Not guilty guvnor I have only just cracked the 2000 post mark due to many periods of extended absence but I still keep coming back so there must be something about this place.

I have only attended a handful of Shitefests too and not sure if I will be welcome at another one after Stollygate as people may well consider the attendance of a potentially unstable weirdo too great a risk.

Most of my posts are just pictures in the picture threads, I rarely post anything of note. However I did set my self a target of getting as high up as possible in the reputation stakes and managed to achieve the Matra Towing a Ranchero status a couple of months ago.

I might start posting some stuff about my own cars when I can be bothered to get down to my lockups and dig them out and recommission them. I have not done much since the Bat flue made us all stay in doors.

Good luck, give me their number if they do want to sort it as nobody would touch the E46 box when it did a funny. A couple of snooty places wanted to refurbish the existing box at a cost of several thousand pounds which obviously made no sense on a shoestring sprinter like mine.

In the end I managed to get a known good replacement box and torque converter and dispatched the whole lot down to Northernmonkey who did a grand job. I think he's still getting flashbacks though 😅

Hopefully you'll get it sorted. I now 100% believe BMWs of this era are an absolute steaming pile of ass. Fine as a hobby car but hopeless if you want a daily.

Saw this yesterday.

We went for a drive/lunch with a friend and his SO, 2 or so hours away. Did a bunch of overtaking, and 5 minutes to the destination I went for an overtake but didn’t see him following. Incoming call seconds later - “Transmission fault, turn around, we lost drive”.

Apparently when he went for an overtake, one of the clutches slipped and kicked the transmission into neutral. Thankfully turning the car off and on again cleared it and ECU went into “right, ahem, never mind that” so we got where we were going and had a great day. Managed to limp the car home without triggering it as well, but we drove like nuns. 😄

Expensive error message as it’s a ZF6HP on a F02 750li. 😢

Iirc it's a 6HP on @aldo135 520i E60.

I keep a BMW coder reader permanently in my E90 330i glovebox for this reason!

It's a 5HP, a basic cheapy code reader will identify the fault code, even on the gearbox side of things, worked on my E46.

He’s been quoted a ballpark of 2000€ for a rebuild. Given that the car needed a full engine rebuild at €€€€€ 6 or so months ago due to N63 doing an N63 and scoring bores, he’s a bit* pissed off with it.

Dunno the difference between boxes (maybe ratios, maybe nothing apart from software) but second hand 6HP boxes are regularly sub £300 on eBay over here.
