Well I was sitting in the garden until the thunder and lightning started. Lots in Oxfordshire.

Oxford isn’t all that far from here either. It’s amazing how the weather can be so different over not much distance.

Not an exciting Saturday.

4 x new Michelin for the Scirocco.  Old ones lasted 10 years and 57k without perishing.  I’d call that a win.

What isn’t a win is discovering that the NSF wheel bearing has a bit too much play in it!  So that’ll be for next Saturday!

I visited Upullit today to get some daft wee bits for the Saab and, on this rare occasion, there was a bonus Rover 75. I managed to get a replacement for the interior door handle I broke last year on mine when removing it, plus some grommets for the scuttle. I took the key as well as the replacement cases you get on ebay are dire and dont work. Plus it had a nice 'Edinburgh Audi' leather keyring which will be perfect for the TT.

There were a few interesting cars in such as a MK1 Xitroen Xsara estate. There was also this poor thing:

It looked in great condition inside and out and it was largely complete. Passed its MOT with no advisories in December 2007 and wherever it has sat since then, its been under cover.  Hopefully it will donate many useful parts. The interior was blue cord velour in case anyone was wondering.

Wouldn't blue interior parts be exactly whats needed on Furious Driving's 740? Im pretty sure hes been looking for ages, would be worth sending a message about!

Had to switch to phone as my photo format is incompatible with the desktop/laptop uploader.

Found the torx screwdrivers and managed to swap the air filter for new.

Pretty manky but not the worst I’ve seen.

The Speedo on the Sierra Hearse was reading under so decided to fit smaller wheels to see if it would make a difference.

These are replica 4 spokes that I had on the Capri a while back.

Speedo now reading over by a small margin,so I'm happy with that.

Arch gap is a bit comedic though.

I decided to go to Worth valley railway today as noticed they had a diesel running and they're always quite interesting compared to the steam trains.

These are a few of the trains they have there.

Unfortunately after I'd paid £21 the tickets this pulled up on the platform. 😂

Its exactly the same as the trains I was getting into work until recently just a different colour on the outside.

I saw ImpJrs cousin who works there, who found it quite amusing that I'd paid to go on that and he said it was a local train that had been taken out of service relatively recently which had been repainted in its original colours, so it almost certainly would've been one of the trains I commuted on.

£21. To go on a Pacer. Twenty one pound.

If I'd have paid someone a tenner to kick me in the balls at least I'd have had some money left over to buy a couple of pints.

At least it was a bit better than this time a few years ago when they had to lay on a bus to get us back.

I would have gone and asked for a refund, but the main thing I'm taking from your post is that I don't remember Class 25s gaining headlights. I thought they'd all been withdrawn before headlights became mandatory.

I've no idea. Maybe this one has been on the mainline for an event and has been upgraded or something?

Can as next time I see ImpJrs cousin as he might know.

Did my first bit of laning today in the rav. Zero risk as it’s as dry as a bastard, but the boys thought it was hilarious.

The description "Sweating like a glass blower's arse" was perfectly appropriate. 🤔

Got the Front bumper back on the Panda, but only temporary!

Decided that some of the fixing were probably too rusty etc to reuse. So with the Dark clouds drawing in, I reattached the useable fixing's along with a couple of cable ties. Will also give me chance to try and find a decent right front arch liner down the scrappy, as the current one is previously missing a sizeable chunk.

Washer pump has gained some blue punto wing bolts.

Also fitted a new front number plate, will replace the rear plate next week. An yes I'll remove the plastic film off it!!

Still it's looking smarter now with it's new plastic bumper trims, only the roof bars to replace and that will be all the unwanted silver parts gone.

I was planning to do some welding this weekend.  The weather is not conducive.  So instead we did a tip run with the Maestro since you have to book in extra special to take a van, ruling out doing one run with Pat's Fiat.  Can confirm, upside-down skip shaped car best car for disposing of epic quantities of detritus.  We actually ended up only having to do 2 runs and ran out of stuff to take, so that's some more brownie points for the temporary winter hack I bought two and half years ago.

the boot on a maestro is stupidly big for a car of its size- i helped my dad fetch a tumble dryer for my sis cos my car was bigger than a mk1 renner 5

dryer in boot seat up!

also an alarming number of people put these monstrosities on their beautiful £40k plus mk1 Escorts for some inexplicable reason. I don't care how bad those Lucas sealed beam headlights are there is no excuse for these
