Today's choice of transport to the office.

20230608_130754.thumb.jpg.2ad38b2a9c5cce8ca2a79d8f3ac77224.jpg

Do co workers comment on your choice of transport or do they just ignore it as it's not something they aspire to on a PCP?

There is a group of people further down the office who usually have a debate when I turn up in something unusual - I don't think they realise that the cars are mine though.

My team are used to me turning up in random shit so they barely raise an eyebrow now.

New viscous fan coupling for my E36 320i. Being a Non-AC model it has just a belt driven fan, and it wasn’t making the usual roar that they do upon startup. Seeing as summer is just about here (supposedly), and ‘show season too’, I Purchased a new Sachs one from C3, and nipped the fan out.

Yep… that’s pretty nasty. That black goo should be inside, and make the fan clutch in when warm.

New unit for comparison…

Fan bolted back up and ready to go in…

I did this between work bits, Fan and shroud refitted, and took it for a test drive. Fan works correctly as it should. These cars sound like a bus on a cold start, and it does again. Then the fan quiets down after 30 seconds or so. :)

I reckon two and a half bags would be more realistic for something like this, and that's assuming it's road worthy. There's no mention of MoT, which is quite telling. The reg number doesn't return any matches on the .gov website either.

Yeah, too expensive for what it is but he'll realize eventually.

2cv self portrait.  Parts for replacing all fuel pipes ordered this morning. Bought a pump as well just in case and they're a good price.

Don't know where else to put this - I'm pretty sure I stumbled across this garage once before but it could have been another place. Interesting though

On the A41.

Old fella who owns the garage was quite ill last I heard, that was a couple of years ago. He had tried to sell up, but I believe to no avail.

Had a good old nose round a couple of times in the past. In fact tried to buy a Triumph Herald convertible off him once about 15 years ago, but he wouldn’t budge on price iirc.

This was 2016 apparently.

I went there to take pics for @motorpunk's book on old service stations a couple of years ago, was a bloke working in the back of it in a woodworking workshop.

I’ve been passing it for thirty years. It had a ripple 2cv in it a few years back. A bit further down the a41 nearer the m54 is an old place that used to have loads of Volvos and Saabs outside.

I’ve been driving it for 20 years, I think we both visit parents by driving that way!

Other house still has loads of Saabs outside. He’s selling some. I tried to buy some parts of him for the 9000 once. Nice fella.

The ripple belonged to one of the owners friends, I pulled in once whilst in my 2CV for a chat!

old building or like 100 years old?

Maybe 100 years old, it's not properly old because the corners are right angles!

Thanks. I ended up with 850 sites around the UK, so my memory of some sites is a bit sketchy without referring to the books. I recall that hotel building having an interesting history (hosted WW2 Yanks, perhaps). Lovely looking old place, thanks again.

My Nan turns 90 this weekend, and so my parents are hosting a party at the house.

I was up the stables sorting through this after work today:

After emptying out the trailer, my Mum says ‘Josh, I don’t want to cause you any stress, but can you clear the car park ready for our guests at the weekend?’

As if an excuse to fire everything up and drive it to the stables is a reason to get stressed!

I really enjoyed driving some cars that I haven’t touched in months. This was also the longest drive I’ve ever taken in the Zastava. Despite being down on compression on one cylinder and having dragging brakes I managed to get it up all the tracks without it stalling which exceeded my very low expectations.

Just a few stragglers to move tomorrow then:

The W211 and my brother’s Celica will drive once we chuck the wheels back on. The Clio is my other brother’s daily so that’s no bother. The W210 will have to be trailered, but luckily the trailer is up at the stables and connected to my Mitsubishi. Just need to chuck the dead weight off the back…

It’s probably a good time to deposit some more motors up there, nobody will ever notice now they’ve moved around 😅

Nice collection. Is your brother moving his Celica on at any point?

He’s made mutterings about selling it on once it’s done, but it’s a few weekends of welding away from that so I’m not sure it’ll see the road until next summer at least.

I’ll make sure it’s listed up on here though once we do finally get it sorted and up for sale.

She used to take me to the sheep farm at East Dean for tractor trailer rides when I was little, I can repay the favour this weekend!

Bromley Pageant this Sunday. Exhibitor tickets sold out but visitor tickets still available, or I think you can also pay on the day.  Getting the @spartacus Panda ready for display in the one make area, pop over and say hello if you see us

Its a great show and could well be  be the last in the current format/size due to the evil mayor who's name I can not speak

I’m ok and so are the occupants of the other car so that’s the main thing. I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt and the airbag didn’t go off…

Best go get the healing trailer from the farm.

At least you can liven your car park up! My Xsara and there's another 2002 standard and quite nice black Toyota celica are the oldest cars I've ever seen in the car park of our new building 😢

We share an office with Peter Jones's company now, I've parked next to his urus once when there was fuck all other parking spaces so I picked a very naughty spot (no email got sent 👌) All the wheels are kerbed on it, especially the rear ones...
