Absolutely, and that bit I get (and support). Most modern cars tbf have tests on both those systems. The light goes on at startup and goes out after testing, so the OBD bit is rather pointless (also, on my 2004 car, the seatbelt too). If those lights don't light up (because the bulbs have been removed), I believe it's an instant MOT fail. A quick check says.... https://www.motester.co.uk/mot-test-of-instrument-panel/ SRS - Light inoperative or fails to go out - Fail. Major. ABS and Stability control - all of the below is a Major and Fail. Warning Lamp Missing Does not illuminate Indicates a fault (For ABS) does not follow the correct sequence Obviously, all above where fitted. They're not testing these on a 1937 MG. My '98 car has a glass rear window and it's certainly a 2nd hand hood from a later car; the previous owner only spent money when he absolutely had to! I did look and currently seems to be around the £650 price point for a second hand facelift hood. Not a huge amount around. It's a bit of hassle with the plastic window but in the summer it's not as huge a deal though. The plastic windows are much bigger than the glass and also fold up easier, giving better access to the engine bay. Found a trimmer down Newton Abbot way who has availability end of October. Good going given one passenger side one is £40 on eBay and drivers side ones are unobtanium. Don't need them at present but you never know, and if I didn't get them I'd absolutely need them at some point. That's two spare driver's ones and one spare of the other side now. The guy at West country trimmers said he's done loads of Boxster hood repairs over the years. £220 odd all in. About a third of the cost for a new glass hood. The hood on mine is in excellent condition and is OEM Porsche. So didn't really make sense to put an aftermarket one on. Also I can get this fixed months sooner than a new hood. He gave me first dibs - I was going to go and have a look and make him an offer... but another mutual friend has expressed an interest too, as a little project to fix up with his two boys. Decided to step aside and pass first dibs onto my other friend - it'll be put to much better use as a father-son bonding experience than as another old shed I don't really need. C'est la vie. You need a bluetooth obd2 connector and the software on your phone, and keep pressing "Erase Codes" from.the waiting room.
