Metro has a self-destruct button. Lucas immobiliser I think. Were they factory fit?

So if a Lucas-made immobiliser does a Lucas and releases the magic smoke, will the car work or not?

It's like Schroedinger's cat, this.

I have a big 'LUCAS' tag on the key fob. All needs removing I expect...

Bollocks to Storm Dennis.  I was determined to get this done today.

Old one off

Quite hard work lifting and aligning Saab door panels on your own.  They are heavy...

I had to leave the dent in the wing (and do some extra expert* panel beating) as the new door was fouling it, so the original hinges must be slightly out.  Patina innit.

I didn't get time to swap the door handles and integral lock, and it looks a pain to get them off, so that's unlikely ever to happen if I'm being honest.  I'll just leave it unlocked and hope no one around here wants to steal a Saab 9000.  I've left cars unlocked accidentally all week before and they've been fine.

Also, new Michelin wipers.  £5.99 each and they work well.  No noises or smearing. Wud reckomend.

OMG SATURDAY WAGONS OF DOOM

The Sam Bramz Subaru joins the household

Taken at Fleet Services 4pm today, when the grim weather dried up (for all of five minutes)

Wife did not enjoy the trip, she has made that clear twice over. But she did know in advance the type of knobber she married ?

Which car check site is this and where it states registered near is that where it was originally registered or where it is currently registered on the v5 ???. Also which level of check does it need to be to get that part to show up?.

I am trying to find where another Sigma might be in the UK and hope that this narrows it down

pretty sure it just gets that info from (in the case of a "new" format plate) the first 2 letters of the number plate which tells you where the car was first registered, so it just tells you where the car was originally registered, not whats on the V5

I had planned to take the in car entertainment out of the zx this afternoon... The rain means I've decided fuck that!

Allowed light to wash over the 635 today for the first time in err...?

Quite surprised as I went armed like a knight to battle my way into the cave through walls of spider monster nests. Hardly anything really. A few leaves, a poo from a small creature on the boot lid and some cellar spiders, not many though.

Reading the thread where someone's leather had gone mouldy had me concerned so I paid a visit plus it needs preparing for MOT sometime so needs to move.

No mould though. I can only think there isn't any because I cleaned and fed the interior not long before it went into storage.

That smell tho... I opened the door and that smell that only an aged vehicle can have. I had to open it up again just to get another whiff... Awesome.

Apart from the expected flat battery which I went to retrieve, I noticed that this car still lives up to its name of 'breaks when you do use it, breaks if you don't use it' as I discovered an unidentified fluid spread across the floor which had dropped from somewhere under the bonnet.

What a car! Turns out that the brake reservoir has shit out all the fluid from what looks like the master cylinder seals. It's an odd one but so are most of the problems that this car manages to produce.

Battery on charge now, it was new about 6 months ago and I should have took it off but forgot. Taking a charge like a pro now so I'll be firing the BM up next week at some point. Air still in all the tyres too!

This was the view from my cousins house in Newcastleton last night.

Street round the corner from us doesn't look that different. Thankfully we are on a hill so *relatively* safe from flooding.  Was definitely in our minds when we brought the place.

This leak is in the ceiling - of course not in the nice easy to get at single story section, no this is on the first floor set back sufficiently to make access more awkward.

The Jag also just decanted about a pint of water into the driver's footwell when I turned the heater on...the intake drains in the scuttle will want cleaning then.

Just completed a 400 mile tour of the Highlands in the Mini which performed admirably. Only used a cupful of oil too.

Needs a bath now though!

This old C Class was outside the front door of our accommodation. Doesn't appear to be in use but it is MOTd so might be in reserve for the owner who works in London.

This worked as an onsite snowplough at the Tomatin Distillery. Surprisingly still MOTd despite the rough appearance (and holes in the floor)
