Paintwork is brown. It’s in a yard near Brean in Somerset. It was persisting it down so I didn’t see anyone about to ask. I’ve taken the numbers on the yard and might be tempted to call them.

Aren’t you supposed to be on honeymoon?

I have a Mercdes again! Yay.

All repaired and lovely, but, when it's pissing down with rain and you are in a strange car DO NOT TURN OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL :)  Eh, it do go well.

Right angle wrong amount of smoke... steam maybe :)

Pics when/if it ever stops raining.

There is a new lady in my life. Went to meet her off the train this evening. Matiz is the choice. Won't start. Battery went flat while I was away, and either isn't being charged sufficiently, or is f*cked. It's under a year old. Great.

2CV is second choice, so off we toddle, with the demisting not really working as it's still in 'Continental' mode (ie mostly disconnected). Rain levels were EPIC at times. Joy. Then we get to town, and she starts fluffing to the point that I entirely missed a green traffic light. She cleaned her throat just as it turned back to red. IDEAL. Parked in a multi-storey car park, so at least I could reconnect the heating without getting soaked.

Heading back, I went over a bump and the headlights went out. That was fun on unlit rural roads!

Bloody cars. They get jealous.

Mazda has FTP'd at home. Starter is working, but engine doesn't want to play at all.

Will check battery voltage and fuses in the morning.

It felt like it something 'clicked' on the first attempt of the key, I'm hoping it is a fuse and not the cambelt...

Bumhats! such an unusual looking car as well. If it is the cambelt the B-series engine I believe is safe in event of snappage. I'm sure there is someone more enlightened than me when it comes to these

Tomorrow I have planned EGR, water pump, cam belt and something else I can't quite remember but is in the garage to change on the Saab.

I really hope it doesn't rain.

Have you met @Mrsbrownnova?  She probably saw it first... ?

This one was @brownnova‘s spot (I was so focused on driving after the unfortunate tyre incident, I wouldn’t look left or right ?). However, if he manages to buy it, I’m claiming it. Happy wife, happy life and all that jazz.

Yes get on to it brownnova!

More husband and wife interaction on open forum, we are no longer alone!

Have the 15 and 17 at the Citroen GS Rally 2 weeks ago, I fear that Mrs6C rather ignored them.

Got sort of offered another job, yesterday.  Still not quite decided what to do, in an ideal world I'll just keep arsing about enjoying myself, but maybe actually being forced to go and do something different two or three days a week won't be so bad. Trouble is,  despite having been offered one or two really decent things, I'm not sure I'm cut out for them.

Mazda 323 still not starting. Fuses/relays seem ok, battery showing 12.48v which is a little low right?

(Just checked Mondy - which is on 12.37, and is ok)

Autoaid cover first £65 of call out fee for home breakdowns, I'm tempted...

My normal mechanic is around and says he can pop out tomorrow for a look - he's a bit hit and miss with time - but if he does make it - he won't charge me a fortune for Sunday call-out, he's a 7 days a week guy anyway.

are you getting spark/fuel? might be worth checking those :)

Posted

Fuel is coming through, I can smell it.

As I've renewed all the ignition parts this year, unless one has unexpectedly failed, I've ruled that out. This may be an error!

Posted

always worth checking :) you never know with this sort of thing!

also not sure if its new enough for this but its not a crank position sensor is it? it seems like on Moderns that's one thing that can go bad which will cause the car to turn over but not fire

Check the electrics first.

I do like the SLK and I love the noise it makes and the way it picks up speed. I don't like the dent in the passengers door that it has just acquired from a twat that decided to use it as a door stop for themselves! Of course they legged it faster than I could get out of the car and have a word. Bastards.

I have ordered fitted mats for it and just spent a bomb in Halfords on touch up paint (and I guessed the colour right! Woo go me!  :)      ) and wheel cleaner and interior cleaner and wash and wax shite. I do love getting a new car, so much to spend on goodies :)

Have an arty pcture....

That is very good to see.

Looking back at a photo of one I got in France a few years ago, I've only just realised that when they facelifted the 17 (and 15?) they turned it into a hatchback:
