Love how you collected a tumble drier and THEN went for an MOT.

Priorities man!

Can't wear your lucky undercrackers to the MOT if they are still sopping wet from that episode where you thought about the Marina van your Ital could have been...

Oof,that looks like a cracking show. There are a few Renault 12s starting to come out around the area now, which is great considering how few there are in the UK.

However, although it is not usual Autoshite material, I have to say that Lotus Carlton is absolutely top draw. Excellent photos as always, and well done on the Marina MOT pass.

I have driven the mighty Doloshite 160 miles over some mountains. Tomorrow it'll have to do that again + 50 miles worth of bumbling around Aberdeenshire.

Exciting times.

If it’s assigned you can just bang them on and go - tell your insurer obv

Missed out on an XJR6 that was up for £989 on Autotrader. Booked appointment to go look, figured out logistics, storage, everything, but someone snuck in and sent the dealer the full asking price by bank transfer without even looking at it. Damn, never seen one that cheap but I'm not mad enough to send that sort of money blind to a stranger's bank account. Annoying when there is a stellar deal but they are over two hours drive away, and usually you just can't get there quickly enough. Oh well.

What's the story with that Mk2 Corty wagon, Mr Trigger sir?

Took the dash out of BBH again, blown bulbs are under the huge great earth strap that runs along the top of the dash. Took it off, found the errant bulbs and have been and bought new ones. I did think about changing to LEDs but not sure... I never use cars at night anyway, so who cares?

Well, me obviously but laziness/tightness/cantbearsedness won out. :)

'Complicated' day tomorrow not helped by having to go to work in the middle of it all.

Rover 45 booked in for MoT at 0930 hrs. Sit in waiting room chewing nails in expectation of the F word. "Recoil in horror face" practiced in mirror whilst waiting. Utilise said face when cost revealed. Either (a) leave car there for instant fixage and collect Thursday or (2) drive home. (2) May occur in event of unlikely pass, uneconomical repair costs rendering vehicle instant scrap, or 'we can fit you in Friday'.

Once at home, stuff poorly made sandwiches into face, get bus to work. Boss aware I may be 'early or late, not sure which' (I usually start at 1230 hrs). Good boss.

Bunk off work 10 mins early, hotfoot to train station via Tesco (food for journey), collect tickets from vending machine, get train up North, journey time 1 and a bit hrs. Get collected at station by seller. Proceed to sellers home to marvel at my new purchase (my fatal '6 seconds left this'll never be the winning bid....oh fuck, it is' move from Sunday night). Exchange cash monies, tax the SORNed vehicle on line (V5 present and correct), drive home*.

*This may take many hours and is not necessarily the case the vehicle will make it home itself, it may be on the back of an Autoaid-instructed tow truck cos I have a funny feeling about this one. Arrive home, take several potatocam photos in the pitch black, and announce on here I'm back...

Then decide which of the 45 or the Cruiser has to 'go to the farm'. (This decision will of course be influenced by outcome of MoT).

Very excite about new car, very scared about 45 MoT.

Going through some man maths at the moment.

Eyeing up something I think might go for around 600 beans. The plan being to sell the Suzuki and SORN the 405 over winter.

Road tax is cheaper by about 8 quid p/m, it may achieve marginally better fuel economy. Should be able to sell it in spring with long test for the same money.

I can only conclude that this will be a profitable enterprise.

The car I'm looking at does have a potentially reasonably expensive disclosed fault, but we'll gloss over that.

Someone blew up the post office where my Mum lives! I assumed my mum had heard wrong but googled it to be greeted with pics of a properly destroyed post office. Must have shit up the guy in the flat above when it went off.

Further to the above, I don't need the car. I'm going to bed, probably to lie awake and talk myself into it.

Changed the oil again on the 405, only covered 5000 miles since I got it, but it was a nice day.

Unfortunately the Pela pump is nae use for the 405. It can't seem to reach the bottom of the sump and can only remove about 2 and a half litres. Can reach the drain plug without jacking up and it came off with a ratcheting spanner, a useful tool.

Does sticking to 5000 mile intervals with filter change every second time sound reasonable?

Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

For the sake of less than a fiver, I would change the filter at the same time. 5k intervals is a good time to change, keeps things nice and clean.

Train woes this morning due to the Network Rail engineers very helpfully* derailing their road-rail vehicle right at Glasgow Queen Street Station, completely disabling the service. Is that even possible?

Sorned the 172 and the Corsa today, mainly to save money but also to keep both away from road salt.

Despite the disruption today, wafting along in the 75 was very pleasant indeed. I actually look forward to every journey in it.

A little collection caper this evening. It came with plenty of pez (thanks bramz!) so have a Fleet services shot instead.

A very busy day at work helped distract me, otherwise I'd have exploded with excitement early on. It's a lovely car, and after a few miles of new chod cautiousness I was bombing along the motorway in confidence.

Stopped at the co-op near home for a beer, and got this photo opp.

I'll try and keep hold of this one longer than a fortnight...

Now the 19 sale makes sense.

I am absolutely chuffed that this has stayed on here, as it does look like a lovely car. I hope it serves you well and we will be seeing more of it in the future.

They were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!

Brilliant, just brilliant Rob. Absolutely love that Co-op green colour on the R11.

I've known about this for a while, and I think it's gone to the right place.

Hold on to it!

Question: Can you drive a knackered shit heap of a Dolomite 1300 470 miles and go over a mountain range (twice) with no problems?

Answer: Yes.

Thank fuck I gave up on all that post-1990 car shit.

Well done Rob! That's a lovely looking little car.

What's the story with that Mk2 Corty wagon, Mr Trigger sir?

I don't know anything about it to be honest, all I know is the rear overriders aren't talking to each other any more and it's also a "1600CC", the CC bit being made up with Halfords badges.

Thrilled you've got that Rob, it means I might get to see it at a meet sometime! Lovely car.

News: it's MoT day for the Saab today. I have had two nervous poos so far this morning.
