My mate has a six month old Movano minibus. Broke down on Wednesday. Recovered to main dealer and the clutch had gone. So new one fitted under warranty. It has done a full six thousand miles. All Vauxhall etc.

All Vauxhall’s drivers are shit etc !

It's absurd o'clock on a Saturday morning and I'm sat on a train. That's right, Operation Fleet Reduction is continuing apace.

Picked up a car for a shiter the other day from East London and just delivered today. On the way to deliver I spotted FordPerv in his Sierra Sapphire on the A500 whilst waiting in the jam.

The game is meant to be we spot YOU on the road, not you spotting us!

Yay ... A proper fleet reduction. Wave if you see Bucketeer on your travels

Those of you who have used Removemycar, how strict is their definition of 'complete'? The website says 'Complete and with wheels'... £152 is my quote, but the car won't be complete when I'm done with it, although will have wheels and will drive onto the flatbed...

Alternatively, of course, they might not turn up at all.

Now sat in a Class 171 out of London Bridge. Didn't know anyone still ran diesel trains into central London.

I hope it paid the LEZ charge!

This came today. Only two people in the office correctly identified it. One because his dad used to take the rotor arm out of their family car when the car was left at Dublin airport. The other because she restored a classic mini a couple of years ago with her uncle and it became her first car.

I bought it mostly to take apart to see how they work (without breaking the cars) and also for yet another project that probably never will get done. Want to play with it and make my own fully electronic ignition system.

For £27 posted, it's incredibly cheap. Quality doesn't seem too bad, but then I haven't had it in action...

Got bored while waiting for my wife to get ready before we go out...

The ex brookjm Landy passed the mot with a clean sheet today .

It’s done about 1800 miles last year and I worked out that has cost just over 800 quid in petrol ! Good lord

Funny enough I've just updated our energy supplier details and it turns out we spend just under £800 a year on gas+electricity. Puts it in perspective.

I did over 13000 miles in my petrol Land Rover last year, I try not to think too much about the fuel bill.

Received my pair of super duper 2cv rocker cover seals from ecas today. I was all set to fit them but lost enthusiasm in the cold. Maybe tomorrow as it’s worth doing the tappets at the same time obviously and I spent much of the morning buying a coffee machine and going to work.

Instead i am now defrosting my freezer-my life is full of excitement !

On the plus side I do have a Royal invite on the bookshelf.

From the Wessexs?

Yes. It seems me nearly running him over last week when he was walking the dogs didn’t blot the copybook! Of course James ( Viscount Severn) nearly killed me driving the discovery on Monday- he’s 10yrs old! I think he was sitting on daddy’s knees but I was too busy diving out of the way to tell.

Rubbed down and painted the OS sill on the Mazda today. I rooted around in the communal waste paper bins for some newspaper and cardboard to catch any drips, and found this.

So I now know the bloke in flat 44 has a parrot!

The sills are the tip of the iceberg, as there's plenty of crustiness underneath that needs dealing with. I'm half tempted to chuck some dynax over it for now and do a proper job in the spring.

Are northern parrots a tougher breed? The Sean bean of parrots!

I’ve got parakeets here, but they’re wild.

Uckfield line - one of the few bits left not electrified going into London.

HSTs are diesel too of course!

Maybe parrots are a northern thing?  A while ago a man and his wife overheard Mike and I discussing birds and it turned out they were looking for a home for their son's African Grey.  Not a level of responsibility I was willing to take on, that, parrots are a pretty big emotional and financial investment.

Wild? I expect they're absolutely livid

Seem happy enough. There were two last year, this year four!

Fusion clutch is original, so 15 year's and 115k miles....

I think it's near the end, when engine is cold it is slow to come back up and feels odd. Master cylinder maybe?

I don't think it's the infamous Fiesta/Fusion pedal clip, as I put a fix on when I bought it 3 years ago. Need to have a proper look when it's light.

This is the known fault:

Is that a Welsh dragon on the front plate? That must have been a trek. 1.8D?

I actually bought it from Sussex, but the old boy I bought it from had gone all the way to Cymru for it - nearly to Aberystwyth in fact.

It's a 1.8 TD, and it's a bit of a heap tbh.  Has plenty wrong with it - PAS leak, noisy wheel bearing, non-functioning screen washers etc.  It also pulls quite strongly to the right under enthusiastic acceleration, especially at higher speeds, which is going to need looking at.  Oddly it brakes dead straight though.  I also think it may need front shocks soon as it gets a bit jittery over sharp bumps, and it has some rust in the boot floor.  Having said that, it drove home 180 miles without breaking, didn't use much diesel, and it still has about 3 months' test on it so I've got a little while to sort out the bits it needs.

I realised the other week that despite loving 205s and having learned to drive in them (my mum had two and the driving school I used also ran them) I'd never owned one amongst the 500-odd vehicles that have passed through my hands.  With decent GTIs now fetching daft money, it's only a matter of time before prices for the boggo versions start heading northwards as well - although admittedly a scruffy late-model 5-door diesel with nearly 200K on the clock is probably going to be at the back of the queue when the values start rising - but I thought it best to pull my finger out anyway.  I nearly did a BIN on a very similar (lower mileage and better mechanical condition but rather pogweaseled) 205 a couple of weeks ago, but someone beat me to it.  Ended up getting this one for less than half the price though - in fact it was the cheapest MOT'd and running 205 I've seen for a long while.
