Could a bolt and nut fit and be a suitable replacement?

No that would be sensible.

The pin is stepped so the threaded bit is probably 10mm, the bit that fits in the middle section is about 8mm and the end bit only 6mm.

There would just about be room for it to be the right way up. The bottom hinges are.

I suppose it has taken 12 years to work loose enough to fall out.

That's what I thought. They've put the pins that way up so they are easy to replace with the door fitted.

I seem to remember it being a theft and Angry Dicky remarking he’d been advised that extra reinforcement was required.

I might have got the above muddled, but there was definitely something on FB

Not me! There was recently a Sierra nicked that apparently had one on, but I don't believe it myself. The owner did have one but he didn't confirm it was fitted at the time.

I was in halfords and I always have a quick look at the paints to see if there's anything resembling the colour of the Cortina.

Hmm Ford Moderna green sounds promising.

I was sick of looking at primer and stonechip so lashed on some plazicoat primer then started wafting the paint around and painted the front valence, bottom of the window/top of the wing and behind

the door where I welded in the new sill.

Of course I didn't take any time prepping and it was about 3 degrees c when I put the paint on so it bloomed a bit. It still looks better and as discussed in triggers ital thread I recon it'll buff up a bit.

Not a terrible colour match either. I may get my mate who's a proper painter to do it at some point in the future but it's fine for now.

There's a lot of metal in the paint due to me grinding stuff and hot metally shite landing on the paint. I was tipped off on here about iron-x, which can be used to treat this.

I bought this trolls breath stuff instead. Same idea just more for the money. By fuck it stinks (hence the name).

I let it sit for about 5 minutes but your not supposed to let it dry. I washed it off and went over it again before attacking it with some chinese bluetac masquerading as a clay bar.

Definitely better. there's still rust in the paint but it's not as rough. Between the trolls breath and the clay bar it removed all the gunk on the wing. I really need to get it out side and

clean the whole car. Not that easy when I don't have a jetwash or a tap.

Not much to do now really but I'm still having problems with the autochoke ruining the the party. It's not returning to closed when cold, which means it's a bastard to start. It's never been a great started but this is really bad.

Between the cable and  manual conversion kit it's 50 quid. Do not like but may be the best thing to do in the long run. I have a long list of stuff I want to buy when/if I sell the panda and this kit is one.

I’ve just bought a Citroen Pluriel with a roof that doesn’t work and a drivers door that won’t open, but it landed at well under 300 quid. Not bad for a 67k miles car.

I haven’t taken up hair dressing but am going to rape it for the engine and ‘box to go into the 207, which has lunched its gearbox and overheated again (cracked head I suspect). If I break some bits before bridging the remains I think I will at least break even.

I broke one of these a few years ago and made about 700 quid after robbing the engine for a C4. even non working roof's made good money but they are getting a bit old now so might not break as well. the bits for the automated gearbox made good money as well if it was unlucky enough to have one.

I bought a manual choke conversion kit for my pinto from the states, cost about £19ish inc shipping and taxes and comes with a cable, i'll try and find the reference if you are interested

Does anyone know where I can get a small tool for cleaning inside a crimped terminal. Finally traced the glow plug fault to a rusty connection I'd missed and I'm damn if I can find anything to clean the green of the inside of the terminal. A needle file is too large, sandpaper won't fold up small enough, someone must make a widget for the job?

The 'ACME Gnats Dick widget' gets to show off its USP ;)

Cut it off & fit a new one?

I pm'd Sam G for an update on the Amazon. Wow, has he done a shed load of work, most of it undoing the efforts of the guy I bought it from.

Now it drives, runs and performs tip top.

"The door fell off!"

That’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.

Had a long weekend (Friday to Monday) in the southern Netherlands, which involved lots of beer and food-related activities:

(please note that the beer in the above picture was backlit by a candle!)

I also visited the Louwman Museum in Den Haag, which is a great way to while away a few hours:

The photo of the Maserati Medici (four-door Delorean, anyone?) got liked/retweeted by motoring journalist/shiter Richard Gunn, no less! :)

The weather on the way home was absolutely atrocious. I was very glad that I had taken out European breakdown cover and that I'd put some Rain-X on The Aero's glass before I left home, as it was extremely wet and windy and the motorways were awash. I made it back to Hoek van Holland without a hitch, though:

All in all, a great weekend in great company (cheers, Ed!). I hope to return to the country at some point in the near future, as for me, it's a fabulous place. Why, I'm seriously considering moving to the country permanently within the next couple of years, given that the current political/social situation in the UK is not at all to my liking and the fact that I am now qualified to drive trucks over 7.5 tonnes. Of course, I'd have to take The Volvo with me if I did.

Surely a C3 Pluriel is prime shite and you should be saving that instead. Or, is it too shit for Autoshite?

just hack it off and put a new one on.

The only way I have ever managed to clean up the inside of a crimp terminal is to put the cable and end into a gritblast cabinet and belt grit into it.  Didn't work very well either.

I had the vectra into garage today.

I was informed a sniffer test on a diesel would not conclusevely prove HGF. However mechanics stated they did not believe it was head gasket - they found the radiator was leaking.

Unfortunately the £400 quote is a no - no a monthe before Christmas.

I think it was in a recent staff car sagas if memory serves, my fave bit of the mag!

Looking for a SWB Transit size van for a minimal amount of money if anyone has one - figure not everyone looks at the wanted thread

If a terminal has gone green/grotty then you need to replace it. Even if you clean it up, the tin plating is gone and it'll just end up green again in no time. Slathering a load of vaseline on will buy you some time though.

Successfully used some aerosol dye to recolour some of The Volvo's seat belt buckle buttons (aftermarket replacements at £7 a pop - urf!), which had faded to a horrible shade of pink in the sun:

Not bad for £9.99 and a few minutes' work. I had three more of the things in a similarly faded state in my parts stash*, which now look the same  8)

*Shep's Top Old Car Tip: never throw anything away that you replace if it can be restored or repurposed in the future.

I have bought a classic car mag! Not read a magazine in years, tis quite good :)

Classic Car mart, is it one of our members offerings?

It's a Kelsey publication, so you could easily see work by DW, alcyonegonganabe or even me somewhere in it.

My 31 year old 205 dizzler had it's road worthiness test this afternoon.

They deemed it safe to drive for another year.
