I don't see why an old style V5 would be no good as it's entirely possible for a car to have one as its current if it's been kept long enough.

Because if it was "on the road" during that time it would of had an automagic replacement doc issued?

Yep - they replaced them all* with red ones because a fuck load of blank blue ones were stolen

I think you'll be fine just sending the ancient document in.  I did the same with a Morris 1800 early last year and got a new document without any problem (if they'd rejected it I'd have just sent a V62 and £25).  I think they're just glad someone's bothered to update them about the vehicle; back of a fag packet would probably do!

I taxed a Porsche 924 with one of those blue log books at the Post Office a couple ot years ago, they didn't even comment on it or ask for the insurance docs.

The log book is still this type.27ae8aee1fa9c050fd8f5f050cc025ca.jpg

Blimey it lives near my parents.

You could ask nicely and they will send the original back

Or just apply for a new one and keep that tucked away

Trig, I am gutted for you re: the sale of the SE, however, the Ital will also be ace and possibly even a bit rarer than the SE.

Enjoy fettling mate.

You must keep copies if you do send it off, please see the case of Herr Junkman VS teh Doovla ref blue P6.

If a car hasn't been taxed since before they went computerised and it's just not on their database, you might have to go V765.

In Junkmans case I think I'm right in saying that despite having an old logbook, they insisted on getting someone from a car club to inspect it in order to issue a logbook for the registration it had always worn.

my son was walking to work and sent me a picture of a welder dumped in the bushes and in the rain, so i picked him up from work and we picked it up, covered in leaves, slugs and drenched in rain, i had low hopes for it too work at all, no wire, rusted tips, .i hoovered leaves out and dumped in the shed for few days,

Trigger,

Sad to see your Triumph go, it was a lovely car but at least it's gone to a good home.

However, I must say your a legend for taking on the Ital van! I can't wait to see how you get on with it, hopefully it's not too crusty. Brilliant save.

And is it stolen?

What no gas with it?

I'd say stolen and abandoned when it got too heavy.

Owner will never recognise it now its rusted away though,

I'm still waiting on the moped, it's all about the long game!

I spent a couple of hours this evening cleaning the inside of the van for now, it seems to have come up alright considering.

The rubber mat needs a good jet wash.

The rust bothers me but I've been informed that it's pretty good for one of these though.

So yeah, it's enough to keep me busy for a bit...

Good luck with it Trigger, I honestly didn't think that you were going to go for the Ital, but I am glad you did. Hopefully it shouldn't have too many hidden surprises for you.

Posted

Good luck with it Trig. You seem to progress quickly when you get stuck in to a project, so is Austin Morris day at Brooklands next March achievable?!

That would be nice but children have slown things down a bit plus I have another due in 6 weeks so it might have to take a back burner for a bit.

And is it stolen?

I had a 150TE clarke - the wire feed mech is bloody awful, snagged up and bunched all the time despite repeated adjustment and a new teflon liner and to make things worse it wasn't as powerful as I'd expect a 150 to be. I struggled with it for a while then threw it away somewhere and bought a grown up model instead.

Maybe that's why it was dumped...

MAYBE it's my old one and it's been moving around the country as hopeful fixers try to make it behave. I think I was given it...

Needed a new battery for the Skoda as the old one's getting a bit weak and the car's been sitting idle for a few weeks.

ECP have a battery sale on, plus an online 33% off deal (SAVE33)...£70 off RRP

Euro Car Parts sales are a bit like the furniture stores sales. The RRP is vastly inflated and the sale price is more expensive than a local independent motor factor/furniture store.
