Isn't that just saying that rather than remove the doorhandle, you remove the entire panel as one?

Posted

Oh, you're right, it's just terribly written. The 'pre/post 1985' refers to the door handle only (door card was simplified), but for some reason the entire instructions to remove the door card are in that headed section, so you instinctively skip over all the instructions on removing it.

The door card isn't screwed on at all, it's clipped into place.

Urgh. Damaging your car WITH YOUR OTHER CAR is the worst driving failure going I reckon. Done it a few times.

Go to a good independent specialist (not necessarily VAG, diesel specialist too). Our 2.0tdi required a valve replacing. Aldi quoted £330 for just the part and a week lead time. Valve acquired elsewhere for £110 and cost £40 to have fitted.

Do you think folk just stick stuff like that on their credit card and take a dry bumming on it? This is why I ended up buying a new, new car If I got a 3 grand bill for something like that I don't think I'd ever stop crying.

nah, bottom one cos you got the graduation from black on the C post near top the top, to grey and silver on the bottom.

It is the season of trying to get nice photos of your car in the dark. Aberystwyth prom is a bit of a mess. This is road.

We gave Audi the go ahead to get it done. They reckon it will be done for Friday.

I haggled off £700 quid of the that total just by saying £400 quid for a battery you taking the piss pal.

My step-Dad drives a Bentley continental. The batteries have failed. the starter battery is 155, the aux battery is 364. Luckily he gets the parts trade price, and our very friendly mechanic will fit them. Also, he's lucky it's a pre 2008, the alarm siren failed. This model year is the same as a passat - and therefore not the 700 that Bentley want for the same part.

I think Bentley would be around 3k to get all that sorted....

It will need a AGM battery and it coded in though - as I assume it has stop start? However more and more places can do it. Just need diagnostic tools to do so. VAGCOM / VCDS can do it if you have one.

I don't know where you are, but Audi labour rates in the south are around £130 p/h, which won't be helping things.

You know, the £700 I'm about to splash out on the Lexus suddenly doesn't seem so bad (cambelt and I thought I might as well go for a full service while I'm at it). Especially as depreciation is now in negative figures.

Three? Was there still a gearbox stuck to it or something?

When you've changed a few more light fittings you will be as knackered as we are.

I spent £20 on a HID kit for our vectra and felt like the man who sold the world.

Vulg: look up BR’s Essex Express ‘Jaffa Cake’ train livery. You should like it.

It’d look ace, I think it’s time to move away from the Aconite.

My vote is the third one.

Still, there's a really nice  Papaya v6 TT on the liability thread for the cost of that bill.

I'll be sure* to paint the grille and headlamps trims yellow in honour of that scheme.
