I have a PDF order form for the new car.
It has a delivery date 26th August (dealer says "week of 21st but we'll call you if it's in sooner").

Eeep. It's real then.

I'm scared to open the link. Nice it's still the 'right' engine though, I don't like putting other makes of lump in cars.

Popular OHC upgrade - BMW K100 bike engine is pretty close on bore etc. so is almost bolt-on for 8V or 16V, injection or throttle bodies. Combine with a 5-speed box kit for a ludicrous A-series experience - and the block of the A-series is a reasonably tough basis for these shenanigans.

I was going to take Maestro to the show but on further inspection the front tyres are so cracked and split I didn't fancy dieing on the way.

Here's some highlights.

this mk1 rally car had had a hard life! I like seeing them like this rather than all wobbed up for maximum retail ££

Also nearly every Escort and Fiesta at the show had a black top zetec in it. There was one escort that had the original x-flow in it.

This was mint! Really lovely.

Nice 12v GSi3000. I was earwigging the old boy who owns it and he says he's going to leave it to his grandson in his will. Lucky boy

I presume this was a green goddess at some point?

The Bedford here was sold by a local Vauxhall dealer and converted by a now defunct emergency vehicle coachworks in Irvine. It went up to Inverness to be be a fire engine then came back to the same Vauxhall dealer at the end of it's life and was restored.

Healey sprite with a really neat looking twin cam conversion.

This was a replica but a good one.

Here's the escort I mentioned. I has been modified (bumpers, wide wheels) but had kept the look, the engine and the houndstooth seats. Lovely.

I was at this show too, here is my album of photos.

The MK1 Escort Rally car was a former rally school car and I think the current owner picked it up recently. I think it's owned by someone from a garage in Dumfries, I first saw it at Moffat at the end of June.

I'm sure I overheard someone say that the 205 was a driving school car. It has just a smidge over half a million miles on it and had been fully repainted. The graphics are original Peugeot designs but obviously weren't made for that XLD.

The beige Escort was sold by one of those white room classic dealers a while ago.

I see the Quattro replica at A LOT of shows so I don't even take photos of it any more. It is indeed a replica but it's ace regardless.

Here are my highlights:

The aforementioned 205

And this 1973 Passat was brilliant. Guy said the Kamei front lip was a £50 eBay find!

Another MoT pass here, 16 year old E46 estate, needed a two minute hand brake tweak and good to go for another year.

That orange Passat had a really weird split opening sunroof. I've never seen one like that before.

Someone messaged me on eBay. They're in Glossop (5miles away) and want to view the A4 tonight. I'm out but the parents are in so the guys on his way over. :-D

I'm assuming this is the chap that bought it as I've just seen it do a four-wheel drift out of Autoshite's usual Glossop meeting place before pelting it up the hill at OMGWARPSPEED.

The engine sounded much nicer than I expected it to.

I saw that too, what the advantages are I don't know. Some kind of aftermarket job I suspect.  He said it doesn't leak either which from all of the moaning about sunroofs I've heard is remarkable.

Drove the 2CV 140 miles. Did a days work*. Drove it another 80 miles. Had to eat motorway food. Have a headache. Completely knackered. 2CV is fine.

FOR SALE - ANY PROJECT CAR EVER.

Naturally, this will entail a change of vehicles in the not too distant future. Shiters' advice will be sought, so far I've been eyeing up MK1 Multiplas.fd67ff3013c7d8c17af22039075d068e.jpg8e821b8aa4d08b62c153ef3fe8052c29.jpg0131b08e2d257ac642770df2e4de68e8.jpg

In our experience this year a mk1 Multipla is the perfect vehicle for new born plus dog.

Just watch out for ripping the sump plug out on high kerbs.

Mustard mitt, people referring to themselves as 'mummy and daddy' of animals does make me cringe a bit. I'm very pleased for you that you will be actual mummy and daddy to a little human thing though. Happy parenting!

While you are there, would you mind asking one of the black bonnet VW van owners why they all have black bonnets please?

Thanks.

It shows my age that when I think ' Army Lorry' that's what's in my mind not a TK or whatever the 4x4 was called.

It's a custom twin cam a-series. I only know as I googled the sticker in the engine bay.

Open the link and look at the price
