106 ready for tonight's collection mission. I can't say I'm thrilled at the thought of driving 255 miles in this particularly given it's absolutely boiling tonight and it obviously has no air con.

Fortunately the drive back should be a lot more comfortable ....

Garage have had my 75 diesel since yesterday morning at 8:30, due to alarming noises from front suspension. No word from them yet :/

Does this mean:

A. It's terminally knackered

B. There's nothing wrong with it

C. They've lost my phone number

Think I shall pop down there in the morning and see what the score is.

Shite rescues shite...

Proper FTP this time. Came out of the roundabout at the back there, no power. No nothing. Coast to a halt. Pull back cambelt cover, see sprocket but no belt. Arse.

Got it towed into the garage halfway between there and home, went to see them this morning, bloke was cautiously optimistic.

Spotted it on the ramp through the open door from the bus earlier, so something's happening.

It'll get fixed, but I just know this is going to end up skinning me. I'm just not that lucky. That is not my way.

Outbid on 2 cars at EAMA Auctions in wymondham hey ho. Nice to see only a few eastern Europeans, although they were all over anything BMW, Mercedes or Audi!!!!

I haven't been to a Tuesday night auction in Wymondham for years - do they still get anything interesting through?  When they were still on Aylsham Road I came away with such gems as a Renault 25 V6 auto and a Seat Malaga.

Non-interference I believe, you may be lucky.

Everybody and their dog agrees, especially as it's the turbo (B230FT), but I'm feeling intensely fatalistic about most things! Nihilism r us.

Occasionally have some interesting stuff, todays highlight was an 05 Kia Cerato £300 I know I had forgotten they exist as well!

Their new place is dead easy to get to and only 15 mins from home for me.

Took the A35 to the welders today. Even the recovery truck is shite there was a 1961 haflinger moke type thing and a renna 5 gt turbo inside being worked on which gave me some confidence.

Then we picked up a 16v proton persona in pogweasel from a lady giffer if anyone is interested pm me finally back at the yard this was hiding in a corner. .. a real choddy eveningpost-18157-0-82081500-1497384696_thumb.jpgpost-18157-0-90628900-1497384726_thumb.jpgpost-18157-0-08651300-1497384751_thumb.jpg

The 620ti has just left for pastures new, I'm pleased i bought it and saved it from being scrapped, it turned out to be a really nice example in the end and will hopefully serve it's new owner well.

Was it for sale here?

Hmm.  You have too few cars; I have too many.  I can see an easy way to solve this dilemma.

I'd had that BMW 2500 of you if you still had it! What have you got left to sell now then?

Posted

I wish I still had that BMW - another car where prices shot up as soon as I sold it.

Don't know if I've got owt that would be of interest to you tbh - Innocenti, Mazda 121, MGF, Getz, shortly the Trafic van, and eventually the CX, but probably not until the end of the summer as I want something oldish to run around in and I doubt the Renault 6 is going to be back on the road this summer.

Edit:  will probably be selling the Volvo 164 at some point too, although that's a fairly major project now. :-(  I want to get it at least driveable again first though, so that won't be going anywhere for a little while yet.

Been pissing about with cars the last couple of days as I've got a bit of time off work and the weather has been nice.  Yesterday I ran the CX up to my welding mate and we got probably half the welding done - the easy bit, the back wheel is going to have to come off for the next bit.

I've decided to give the ex-Moog / Smellypoo Mondeo another go before it gets sent to TDCi heaven - although it's scruffy it's basically a sound car and goes like hell when it's running right.  I don't think the issue is a fecked injector as it didn't show any of the normal symptoms of that.  My cheapo code reader won't talk to it, but I've ordered a Ford F Super diagnostic thingummy off eBay - it was only 11 quid odd and I don't mind spending that, would cost more to run the car up to a "proper" garage and have them plug their posh Snap-On reader into it.  I'm not holding my breath, but if the gizmo does diagnose the fault and it's something and nothing, I'll get it fixed and put the car in for a test, whereupon it'll be going up for sale.

The 200 Vi is, regrettably, probably going to get scrapped.  It's developed a leak from what appears to be the water pump, which on top of everything else it needs has rendered it beyond economical repair, for me at least.  I tipped in a bottle of Steel Seal that I'd bought a while back, but despite following the instructions to the letter the leak is still there.  Water pump replacement is a bit of an involved job on these and way beyond what I'd take on myself.  It's a shame as it's a rare beast and a proper sleeper.  If I can be arsed I might nick the half leather interior for the Rover of Doom before it goes.

I fitted a stereo to the Rover 45 as the previous owner had removed the (admittedly quite expensive) ICE.  There were no speakers either, not even the crappy original ones.  I had a pair to go in the back, and Argos had some speakers that looked promising for the front, so I drove into Norwich only to find that none of the stores carries them in stock and they have to be ordered in.  So I went to Halfords and bought a single speaker for 12 quid to tide me over - once I get a proper pair the single one can then go in the Rover of Doom to replace the current driver's door speaker whose tweeter has fallen off.  I also swapped the wheels front to rear as the rear tyres were in much better shape.  They're Bridgestone Potenzas so should be half decent.  Whilst I was swapping wheels around I tried the 15" alloys from the 25 to see if they'd fit over the brakes - they do, and they do make the car look more understated, but I'm starting to kind of like it on the 17s, so we shall see.

Also sprayed the front bumper of the MGF today - it's not the best job to be honest as the underlying paint wasn't completely smooth and being a metallic the colour won't look quite right until it's been lacquered (which I can't be arsed with), but it's better than it was.

Tomorrow's jobs (weather permitting) are to have a bash at the tracking on the MGF, attempt to stem the oil leak on the Spacy, clean out the back of the Movano and run a couple of wheels up to the local tyre place to get tyres swapped over.  Oh, and I need to swap the voltage regulator on the Volvo for the old one to see if that solves the overcharging problem.

It's like the 1970s.

(Better in some ways, inferior in others).  The scenery around the east to south coast is lovely.

Yesterday the Merc passed its mot, 2 patches and 2 rear subframe brackets needed welding ! Happy days.

Very nice indeed. Did it come with a free step ladder to put the aerial up?

Wuvvum,

I have two sets of fairly decent speakers with wiring festering in my shed. I have nothing to fit them to so if you want them PM and they are yours for cost of postage. PM me if you want pics which i can get tonight. From memory there are one set that are about 6" across and one set that are about 4" across.

What, put the aerial up manually?! Ha! This is a Rover don't you know, one simply does not put the aerial up by himself, he just presses the button and lets the car do it for him!
