One of the guys at work bought a newish corsa . It must have been sitting for a while as the discs had some rust on them, which worried him. I told him just to slam the brakes on a few times and it'd just clear the rust off, which he did. He also bought a tin of wd40 and sprayed it into the front brakes. I've no idea what it'll do but hopefully we'll see him tomorrow.

Seriously? At best it'll reduce braking capabilities, at worst he'll be parking his car into his house/hedge/office or car in front...

He said he wanted something that could remove rust and all he could think of was wd40.

I didn't know how to start so just said that was probably a bad idea and he should probably drive home with his hand on the handbrake lever.

Got a pal's wedding Saturday in Surrey and a few fellow guests who share the groom's perversion for motahs will be turning up in old crates of varying degrees of mingness - assuming everything makes it there will be pre war Rileys, MGBs, a Cortina Mk1, old 911, a Capri or two and my austin.

I gave the A35 a bit of a spring clean as after non-stop dailying duties it was rocking the "kept going on a giro cheque circa 1983" look and I'm quite surprised how well it has come up. I even cleaned the chrome which made me feel like I should join the Owners MG Club.

Rip to the supplying number plates on my Rover. 19 years young. Got an advisory on them at its mot so replacing them this evening before it's re-test.

When I unscrewed the bit near the F' the whole thing fell apart as all that had been holding it in place was the screw. The crack happened as a result of a suisidal phesant around 2 years ago

could always just drive normally as the rust will come off with brake application

I had a haircut yesterday! Had left it since last october, so it was a bit long, hadn't shaved in 4 months either. Amy was moaning, people at work were moaning (in a jovial piss taking way) so I had it cut yesterday. The lady asked what I had, and I'm always shit at remembering so just said fuck it, number 4 all over... After she ashed me 3 times if I was sure, off it all came, and it feels better. Worst case give it 2 weeks and it'll have grown

Amy doesn't like it, Charlie cried at me for half an hour afterwards, Eva pissed herself laughing and I'm getting more jovial piss taking at work. I might let it go down to my waist next time like I had at college. I pulled it off at 17, may not at 30...

I always say "You are the expert, make me look the BEST you can. What would you do with my hair? "

This freaks them out.

So I say "Last time I was REALLY happy with a haircut was in 1987 in Birmingham, where I had a number one Flat Top.  If you have no other suggestions, I'll have one of those please"

They can't do that because not trained in the art.

So we compromise on a short back and sides.

This is me with glasses on (the other is my son)

Fixed the n/s/r indicator on the Fireblade, then the o/s/r packed up-the most important one. I've fixed it again, but they're horrible, cheap nasty/fiddly things so I'll try and get some btter ones for it soon.

Talking of my son, he's now moved all his stuff back home, having taken Voluntary redundancy and having got himself on a Teacher training course at Birmingham University to start in September.

According to my wife, he's spent the best part of a week playing on an X box.

That's all very well, but I think if he's living with us rent free, he might turn his hand to a bit of gardening. Or get a temporary job.

If the WD40 spin is to be believed, it might improve braking in the wet

But I seriously doubt it

I once put the soaking wet with brake fluid pads back into the rear of the MX5, once I fixed the fluid leak. It passed the MOT one year later, so I can only assume it was quickly burnt off with the heat.

Not sure if anyone has posted this on AS yet but I saw the other night that an Italian firm is taking Citroen Relay's and putting reimagined H Van parts on them. Available next week apparently but the plan is only to only build 70 to mark 70 years since the H van was launched. The H Van was always a bit gopping so naturally this new thing has looks only a mother could love but I kind of dig it. Even in real photos they look almost like renderings.

Surely anything in this day and age with frikin' white walls has to get the AS thumbs up? The price on the other hand... It starts at £36k.

i saw these the other day and thought was this an improvement on the relay...lol

Not keen on whitewalls but that H Van Relay is actually pretty funky and certainly no worse than the New New New New Mini or other retro nonsense.
£36k is stupid though, bet you could do it for a lot less with some corrugated tin from B&Q.

Get new ones made here, with the dealer details etc. They will look spot on.

I suspect after a shit ya pants moment it'll burn off & be fine.

I did it once with some discs I'd put into 'storage' for a while & forgot to wipe it off when I refitted them. Took about three junctions for the brakes to come back to normal.

He's still alive and recons it didn't have any adverse affects.

I sprayed ACF 50 all over the brake discs on the MG when I put the new ones on. Was going to be left standing so didn't want rust. Despite dire Internet warnings the brakes were fine after a few applications. It all burnt off quickly.

Ne H van. Needs same colours as the originals. Lights and mirrors look shite, the corrugating effect needed to be all over the sides of the load area and not just halfway up. Otherwise 8/10 and 'would'.

Just back from taking the shonky bx for a mot. Was expecting a rectification list, but it only went and passed with a clean sheet!

Went to fix a Laguna wing mirror that my mates wife drove into today. I'd hoped that it could just be pushed back together. All but one of the clips in the outer bit were broken and the black plastic surround was cracked. (don't think you can tell in the pic)

Scrappers had one but in silver and it went on OK. Mother was a little slower but still. (forgot to get a pic..)

As Halfords was the closest went to see if they had any paint. Turns out it's a colour (eclipse grey) they don't have but can make if I'd remembered to take the paint code. I tried a few similar colours on the grey shell then we went back to get the code as my mate (who's paying) wanted the right one.

Saw the woman who's car it is when we got back (she'd not been there before just left the key) 'oh that one will do' pointing to the paint tests. So back to the shop and one can of BMW paint bought.

All that messing about for a very battered and already rattle can covered car

Did spot this box of centre caps outside the scrap

I was in my X-trail doing around 60mph,so i didn't stay along side for long.It was tiny i could of put it in the boot.

Nothing exciting, but yesterday I had a meeting at Warwick university. Which for some unknown reason is actually in Coventry. No traffic driving up and only one idiot in a Range Rover who spotted the fuzz lined up on J 15 bridge at the last minute and tried to side swipe me by slamming his brakes on and swerving to the inside lane. Return journey was slow due to traffic. But the merc was perfect well behaved.

Which brings me to the reason for posting- I was the oldest vehicle I saw in 220 miles. 1994 M reg Mercedes. I think that's sad ( not in a Donald trump way).

Mpg was a little on the Oliver Reed end of the scale due to wa-hey acceleration on occasion.

On the way back I heavy traffic on the a322 I was let in the queue by a guy in black tie ( with another matching chap in the passenger seat) in a newer convertible Mercedes. Who knew Bracknell had a symphony orchestra!?

COULD'VE! Sorry. Personal cringe-point. Sevens are indeed very, very tiny.
