I am ON TOUR in Scotland.

I've been keeping an eye out for scotchoshiters and reckon I saw Barry Cade/Taff plucking some unfortunate off the side of the M90 this morning!! A 4x4 electric co Sprinter went past me in Dundee and I thought of LP, and just up from the DC Thompson building coming round the roundabout was a scruffy silver N reg V8 Lexus with a blowing exhaust, anyone on here?!

Not me I'm afraid- I'm day off but was probably my trucks twin with the Monday to Friday driver...

Will they make it run cooler or is it just a Christmas present excuse? No problems either way :-)

Of course it will make it run cooler, how could you possibly doubt me? :) :)

No idea to be honest, but they look good and it is Christmas and no other bugger will buy me pressies... so this is from the dogs!

Spent a rather pleasant day MG fiddling. Dropped the front subframe to remove the rotten wishbones.- will post a pic of these later..which passed an MOT in June. Only snapped 3 subframe bolts which needed drilled out and retapped. Bit of a mad idea having to drop the subframe to get the bolts out..

Threw some paint on the passengers silver replacement wing. Bought 2 tins of halfords tahiti blue (which is an excellent match by the way) but on taking the lid off the 2nd tin the nozzle broke off and covered me in JRJ pearlecent. :(  Will need a few more coats then clearcoat. Have got 2 wishbones and a rear track control arm on their way to me, as well as 2 NEW  Genuine ABS sensors from Reamer bros, which were less than half the price of anywhere else strangely! Nearing the end of the mechanicals on it, just front discs and pads to go then it can go on the road- I can make it prettier later when the weather improves.

Todays injuries - I nutted the subframe and drew blood from ma heid. Thumped that bit at the bottom of the thumb when removing the bottom balljoint bolt with a BIG hammer, that's throbbing a bit, metal in the eye from drilling upside down and a metal skelf in my other thumb. Not too bad.

Today's findings. The bolts that hold the subframe to the body are identical to the bolts that hold the hood frame to the car. I had these in stock!

After cooking up fitting daughters battery. I turned my attention to changing a bulb in the Japanese mega bus. This was surprisingly easy and only required the removal off a fuse box on the off side. The one that had gone was some cheap and nasty fashionable blue type thing. So I replaced both sides with proper white ones. I don't want to look trendy, I want to see where I am going .

Here are the wishbones, which passed an MOT 6 months ago. I must have been too strict as a tester if this is acceptable.

Sounds like Dome.

Nope, the LS he won off me is dark blue, and the exhaust isn't blowing, it's just had the back boxes removed. :D

Rust never sleeps and 6 months is well out of the MOT scope

I know, but they really are just crumbly. And one of the ball joints has quite a bit of play. Seems a bit much for only having done a few hundred miles as it's been parked up since Sept. Add that to rotten brake discs, ABS bulb missing, seized rear caliper, hole in the subframe, bald rear tyres knackered track rod end and a bent rear track control arm it has really been through the wars in 6 months..

I'm a tester so know MOT's are only valid on the day of test, but come on. If this is what can happen in 6 months from a decent MOT, imagine if we had gone to two yearly tests...

You give those dogs too much pocket money.

Indeed, I'll give you scruffy and a wee bit noisy, but it's neither silver or N reg

Oh and I try my best to avoid Dundee.

That is why they have a nice dual carriageway so you can pass through quickly.

It would be nicer if it was all NSL instead of 50mph...

Well, what can I say.. The MG ZT has rewarded me for all the suspension ££££'s spent by finally falling out with the starter motor. An almost fail to proceed this morning. Ten attempts to start it resulted in nine clicks from the starter motor, then it reluctantly did the job and fired up the car! To be honest this has happened before occasionally. Now it is almost every time. Back to the LFG in the morning then....

These cars are moody to say the least! Although it did a trip from Lytham to Portmeirion last week for a three day holiday and behaved itself perfectly.

I'm glad it's not just me that this has happened to.   It's one of those things where you just look around in disbelief and say 'what the fuck just happened?'.

Rust on MG looks scary but it's coming on nicely.

The rust story on the MGF is similar to the rust on my MG ZT rear suspension. Passed the MOT last year then collapsed soon afterwards . Was an advisory admittedly, but even so....

Rust never sleeps of course, but the MOT standards do seem a bit slack . I would rather a car failed the test before something fell off a few months after a pass.

Finally washed the Japanese bus today. Only to notice someone has keyed the back bumper. Luckily although it's the length of the bumper it's only a bit squiggly. So some 25mm chrome strip for 8.99 of eBay should cover it up. Cheaper than painting it.
