I think your moneys safe and you've locked in a bigger budget for future purchases if you sell it. Well played.

It was a strange sale, it was his wife's pride and joy and she walked out on him last week and he needed it gone (it was all in his name). Apparently she became a rockabilly and he was a Rocker (Iron Maiden fan) and they drifted apart with their musical differences!

He just wanted it gone as it reminded him of her too much after he posted it on Facebook asking for a idea on the price which a friend tagged me in the post and I went to look at it, he's a engineer at my work.

As I see it you've created two problems for yourself.

1. Finding somewhere to park the 1600E,2.0 Ghia and 2.3GL S you need to complete the set.

2. Convincing your missus to wear a Glamcabs uniform..

Trig that cortina is ace. Great car and price.

Love old fords and had a day working on my anglia today, can't get my head round the wiring so I've phoned the auto electrician to bail me out.

Top bombing trig! Youve got to line both tinas up for a shot beside each other, on you drive would look spot on!

I remember you said you were at a cortina club meet at SF weekend, I recon they need to give you some sort of honorary title or whatever with those two beauties youve got!

Started recording some Ami video footage but failed at battery checking. Arse. More shooting tomorrow then.

PS how does it drive compaired to the Mk3?

In volvo news I've just come in from swapping over the transmisson mount on the 760, whilst the old one had sagged allowing the back of the gearbox to sink down onto the crossmember a bit, it wasnt totally knackered so i'm unsure whether or not i've got the cause of the driveline vibration/ resonnance nailed. Fingers crossed when I give it a test drive tomorrow.

I removed the front discs to clean out the ABS sensors and whilst one came off fairly easily, the other was stuck on the hub and I think I walloped it a bit too hard in trying to ease it off. It was either a bit warped anyway or ive put it out of true in getting it off. Hence a set of front discs and pads should be with me tomorrow in readiness for putting it all together tomorrow night.

Hey Trig, I like the look of that Cortina nd everything (tho I reckon it wants the roof painted white), but those seats look fuggin' disgusting! Have they been painted with some vinylcoat type stuff, or is it a horrible retrim? I can't believe that even Ford would get away with that!

Soz, rest of it looks top! (Also put the proper steering wheel back please)

After being fobbed off by three separate repair garages trying to get an insurance quote to fix my car after a Tesco van reversed into it late last year, I've just given up on getting somewhere that isn't total shit and asked for "cash in lieu of repairs".

Not sure how successful I'll be though, but it's worth a go. I'd rather have the cash and buy some coilovers hang on to it while I keep an eye out for a bumper the correct colour on ebay to eventually turn up, or even try one of these smart repair jobs. There's not a lot of damage but all the garages wanted to put a bumper on it rather than repair it:

I got a quote from one place, £280 for a bumper plus £240 to paint and fit it. Quote was for the wrong spec bumper though, so I pointed it out then they just stopped getting back to me. Weirdos!

I found the proper bumper on ebay for £350 2nd hand (!!!!!) and said to the other places insurers look,  just give me £590 and I'll sort it out myself. They'll save money on paying for a new bumper and a hire car etc etc and I'll probably eventually fix it one day.

I think the seats have been buffed up, they were red but a duller red, I agree they are a bit bright though, the roof should be that colour but again I'd prefer a body coloured one.

It drives totally different to the Mk3, much smaller, nimble and you sit higher, the tiny wing mirror are useless too, it's certainly much different to anything I've owned before.

same as the doorcards surely??

can you take the shine off them matt them up a bit

wheel is good spindly oe wheel is hawt also

how are you coping with more torque than the focus :D

There isn't a bit of it I don't like. I think the roof, seats and steering wheel all look great. If it was me I'd get a momo steering wheel and a set of venoms on it though.

The Seat has miraculously repaired itself. Sort of.

A while back i accidentally disabled the Traction Control. and couldn't switch it back on.

Yesterday I actually finished work with some daylight to spare so with a thought of "fukkit" in my mind and a set of tools which included a small hammer, some pliers, ad a few of those really thin screwdrivers and a tin of contact cleaner |I attacked it, sprayed it, poked it, bashed it, swore at it and eventually it worked.

Next job was to get the bonnet open. I'd had a quick go at the weekend, but frankly couldn't be arsed. i enlisted the help of my neighbour, he pulled the handle and i got hold of the catchy-thing with some pliers. Sorted. Half a can of cleaner and a rub with a toothbrush, then a liberal application of 3 in one, it worked properly again. I took the precaution of adding a cable-tie to the springy-out catchy thing too, just in case.

Got in their this evening, and the EML which had been on for about 4 months had gone out. Drove in to Laahndan and back, still not on. This car has mended itself.

All I've got left to do is sort out the water leak.

Anyone wanna buy it?

Top purchase there Trig, looks a cracker!

At the other end of the scale, I've just got back from Basildon after collecting this old Dutch Swede

No pez shot, just a safely home shot as the seller had some trouble starting it today so I didn't want to get stranded. It goes pretty well though, and is in proper autoshite spec with some rough rear sill and arch repairs and lacquer peel on both front wings. I like it!

Glad you got back ok rob! As you say, these always seemed to be quite well badged up. I remember ( in fact to this day) never being quite sure what " lamda sond" or whatever these earlier ones had stuck to the grill actually meant. On my paper round I couldn't decide whether the one parked at no 12 had some sort of emission system or maybe a swanky stereo?!

I sold these new and had a couple as company cars the pre cat cars were 107/109 bhp in 1.7 form and had a fair zing but the cats were 102 bhp but felt like 90 bhp and they did a few less mpg as well.

I've been informed that the wife is 3cm dilated to it's off to the maternity ward we go. This should be interesting

The Council Estate's triumphant return to the road is constantly marred by the Council Estate being a grumpy blue arsed bastard.

Went to McDonalds earlier and the electric windows stopped working. Last night I had no headlights or wipers. Occasionally I have no lights or wipers or electric windows.

That would normally be in the grumpy thread but (touch wood) the gauges all work accurately, possibly a first ever.

I'm driving to Devon tomorrow. I'm not yet sure what in. Plan is to leave here in the Ami, stop off in Hereford and switch to the XM, but that does depend on it being ready. No word from my pal yet. I'm hoping the XM hasn't drowned him in various fluids.

In other news, the air filter for the Nippa has arrived. As has a fuel filter. The latter is more faff to change (I might actually need some tools) so hasn't been done as yet. I reckon the air filter probably needed changing.

I have to say. I'm not sure the Nippa is winning me over like the Sirion did. It's just a bit too tinny, and the interior plastics are a bit too awful. But, it's Mrs DW's motor really and she has very low standards. Not sure what that says about me...

I popped out about an hour or so ago to get some stuff, on the exit of a roundabout there was an old boy broken down in a red 2014 suzuki alto, people were just driving around him no one stopped just beeping at him so I pulled up in a safe place and walked up to him to see if he was OK and he told me he had just lost drive low and behold the clutch appeared to be buggered, so I pushed it to a safe place further up the road a lovely girl on a 125 bike stopped to help as well, i am shocked that something that is only a year old with no miles can break so easily, new cars are Shit.

He's probably done every journey in that car with his foot on the clutch, I used to know a old lady with a Dolomite 1300, in 15 years and 40000 miles she'd gone through 4 clutches!
