Taxed the X1/9 as I had decided winter was over. Thoughts of driving roof off in the sunshine I attended to a few wee issues. It started snowing. Now there is about 4 inches of snow on the ground, and the Volvo, along with its heated seats and windscreen is 10 miles away, work tomorrow and the Fiats battery is not the best. The morning may bring hoots of laughter drifting to work,or hospital in an ambulance if I try to bump start it.

When I had an X1/9 I found some black ice one morning, where the road went gently right I went straight on toward an old style stout post box, only to slide past it at 50 mph slot car fashion guided by the kerb.

After a long time while nothing happened, there is news from me.

I sold my daily driver, the 2007 Mazda 6

dscn0779.jpg

because I was bored of it and there may be some repairs for the coming austrian-MOT to do. So it is gone now.

I sold the 86 Subaru Leone Turismo, which was restored for me from 2011 until 2014 too.

dscn2287.jpg

Why? Because it never was this much fun I hoped. And I came to the conclusion that my era with Leones is finished after three of them.

So now I am left with my two Pajeros.

The green garage-queen from 1987 is still hibernating until ~ April when the salt is completely gone from the streets. I would like to drive it more this year, last year it was only out on the streets for ~ 750km. Not much, I fear its getting kaputt just from standing around in its garage.

So my only car at the moment is my 1989 Pajero V6 3000. A good feeling to have such a cool car as a daily driver, but I hope it serves me well. One week of daily dutys by now and it has done me proud. I hope this continues.

Hopefully it will give somone else the pleaseure it didn't give you.

I've been on the hunt for a set of MX-5 or MGF seats to go in my cortina....

How about these ? Might need a few days in the airing cupboard to dry out.

(Spotted at scb in newbridge a couple of weeks back)

they had a good half dozen mgfs and three or four mazdas in, so you should find something suitable

Spur of the moment day off work: quiet there, busy here.

However, it always comes in threes.

8:30AM Sniff, sniff, that smells like hot oil. Oh look the cam cover gasket has failed again (on the Zetec engined van)

9AM      Ring ring "youngest here, where is the wheel nut key in that Civic you gave me four months ago. The front tyres are bald and the kwikfit man says he needs a key" (No idea)

9:30AM Ring ring "wifey here, although it is two and a half hours since I left, I am only 40 minutes away 'cos of traffic"

9:45AM Ring ring "wifey here, I am in a layby and the gears are broken. Shall I call the RAC?"

No.

So I toddle off and install Mrs Me in the MR2 and wave her on her way and drive the Legacy home without a clutch. The pedal is stuck at floor level. When I got home I managed to wrench the pedal upwards, and suddenly the clutch works normally. Feels exactly the same as ever. Fluid level normal, no leaks. Weird. I suppose the master cylinder is ready to retire and seized after best part of two hours of clutch pumping traffic.

This is the third time I have rescued clutchless wife;

1 - Breadvan Polo - cable broken

2 - Rover 414 - slave-cylinder bracket broken

3 - See above - ?

No wonder previous wife preferred automatics.

Those mx-5 seats are perfect but even if I dry them out they'll stink.

I'll keep an eye out for a set that aren't covered in tramps piss :)

The man who restored it for me bought it from me.  So I paid him three times that what he paid me for the Leone. Good deal for him and I am happy it has gone into good hands.

Went to look at an Audi 100 for a mate today, after we jumpstarted it, noticed the dents and rust, then noticed the gear stick had come loose, the fact the brakes didn't work, and it had a broken quarter light. We left the oddly flabbergasted owner with it. He seemed surprised that my mate didn't want to buy it.

I have been at Silverstone Classic car Auction today, it's a new auction for classic cars £5-25K but this first one was a bit lack luster with less than half the cars sold.

The Porsche appears to be sold. Again. I think it's actually going to go this time but this isn't in the grin thread just yet.

I may be perusing the classified ads again though. Anyone fancy a lovely* Skoda?

Ok, so ALL VAUXHALLS R ETC but I'd like to take a minute to congratulate them on the 64-plate Meriva I've just followed, on which the only working lights were the offside headlight and front indicator and the high level brake light. The driver looked a bit bemused that everyone was flashing her...

Later this year the Xantia is up for grabs, just to let anyone know that might be interested.  Super practical and tidy it continues to be an excellent vehicle but I'm finding the longer I own it the less I want to use it.  I need the Princess or the Renault back on the road before the Xantia goes up for sale formally so they dictate how long I keep it for.  It's a bit of an Autoshite bike but that's generally a good thing, certainly so with this car.

When it does come up for sale it will have an MoT, will be clean and tidy and will be able to be driven away from Thornaby for £600ish.

I may have been given a 'work on your car' pass for Sunday. We shall see...

Brilliant, I'll make sure I get grub in for when you arrive.  Bringing your own welding gas, I hope.

Just got the vectra back. New glow plugs and a bill for £107 which is nae bad.

Three completely fooked, the remaining one glowed slightly.

At least none broke meaning no drilling and tapping bollocks.

Hoping to get oily and up close to the zx tomorrow. Any tips for things to take off and clean under the bonnet whilst I do the oil change and replace the fuel filter?

I'm massively jumping the gun here but I've found a stunning Granada 2.8 GL for sale which I'm excited about, I've spoke to the owner and hopefully I'll sort a viewing out over the weekend, annoyingly it's in bloody Sheffield but with 2 owners from new and only 35000 miles, 5 speed manual as well as a mot till November, it's got to be worth a viewing at £2250 ono.

I suspect it will either end with it selling for i get to see it, or i will drive all that way for it to end up being a rotten shitbox and ending miserably for me but still...
