The Lord Mayor of Oxford's car has always had the numberplate FC1 - again probably worth a fortune now but presumably been used since the dawn of time.  Was on a Princess stretch limo when I were a lad - now on a Nissan Leaf.  How the mighty* have fallen.

The Mayor of Leeds had U1 for years. I believe it was recently sold, and is now on a 5 year old Volvo.

I recall making a shit joke about why he needed 7 seven seats when he was the one and only.

He laughed it off but only because I helped his missus on to the right train, hence the offer of a lift.

Likewise, the mayor of Southampton always had TR1, TR being a  Southampton reg. When I were a lad it was always a Daimler DS420 but the last time I saw it which was still some years ago it was a Volvo 960. Just checked and it's now on a Tesla Model S, still black though to show it's mayoral status. Sign of the times I guess.

Not sure how I feel about this.

100mph in a 60,  not ' deliberate ' because his mind was on his mum.

Now I'd be bothered about my mum too, but does that mean I can go from Norfolk to Hertfordshire at 100, because I'm not thinking about what speed I'm doing?

I would have thought if you didn't know how fast you were going, it's without due care?

IIRC the Bolton Mayoral equivalent used to have WH1 or 1WH. Back in the mid 90s it was on a stretched Granada. Probably converted up the road at coleman milne in westhoughton @sporty-shite

This morning I read in the online version of the daily telegraph a rather scathing review of a new 7 seat, 3 ton electric Volvo and this evening it's vanished?

Yes, the Mayor of Bolton has WH1. It's now on a Lexus, although the stretches of the day were Coleman Milne cars.

Indeed. Anyone who can 'accidentally' be doing 100mph shouldn't be in charge of a motor vehicle. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Yes. Amateur top speed. I managed 125 mph in a MK1 Mondeo. He should be trying much much harder.

I drove ninety miles to Buckingham earlier to collect my new daily.

It's only a 1.6 dtec but it gets down the road really well and showed 50 mpg on the ride home.

I’m not sure what the article is saying. He got off lightly because of his excuse? £650 and 5 points doesn’t seem very lenient.
Usual crap journalism. Sensational  headline, (though Moron doing 100 mph would have been better), followed by poorly  worded and/or researched article.

No low rent rubbish for Cardiff back in the day. From 1963-2002 the Lord Mayor used KG1, a Rolls-Royce Phantom V. Unfortunately, it's been stuck under a car cover in the basement of County Hall ever since, only emerging for an annual MoT.

KG1 was the first licence plate issued in Cardiff, in 1904._101224510_foi.jpg.jpeg.1c0958b6bb34c4a36a996c552392e75e.jpeg

Ampera passed the MOT today.  I'd picked up a decent Uniroyal Rainsport for £notmuch to replace the knackered Lassa tyre on the NSR and the garage fitted it for me and didn't charge, which was a bonus.  They did advise that the front subframe is getting rather scabby though, so I'm going to have to get under there and give it a wire brush and a coat of something - which isn't easy on the Ampera as it's rather low to the ground so there's no way it'll drive up onto the ramps and only one of my trolley jacks will fit under it, so I'm going to have to get inventive.  The rear brake I was worried about passed fine though.

Diesel maestro conked out on mrsstinkwheel 1500 yards up the road, met her in the 206 hdi, sent her off in that and managed to roll the dead maestro down back to the house (handily placed incline)

dead lift pump (the cam driven one) luckily I had a new spare in stock (see keeping lots of parts does come in handy)

once that was done I also unseized a track rod end that means I can do the tracking properly at some point and gave it an oil and filter change.  Hadn’t planned on doing any of that but heck, when the tools are out and you are working on the thing because it failed to proceed, why not. Now drinking cider and feeling smug

random dining room window shot because I can

Just had two helicopters fly overhead.  Not royal for once, and flight radar has them going from Chichester to elstree aerodrome. Nice way to pop back to town from Goodwood festival of speed!

Take a hint from LBFs thread and get some drunks to tip it on to its side?

Just get a few fly tipped mattresses down first.

It'd take a lot of drunks.  The Ampera weighs about 4x as much as an Inv*c*r.

Just park it on Prince of Wales Road.

Went to a shite car museum today. A very quaint place with a very rusty Stag outside and a Robin Reliant used as a parcel storage box. My wife pointed out that if I had a spare shed, it'd be basically the same for me. Even down to the exhibits being in a slightly rusty condition and a harvest gold MGB GT on display.

Pictures are in no particular order as it's just the order they happened to upload in.
