A new vehicle has joined the FolkUs family

Shock horror - it's French

No collekshun fred as it was local and the seller very kindly dropped it off

Mother_FolkUs was making noises about wanting "a big MPV but not a stupid 4x4"

So when you get offered a Citroen Xsara Picasso that's done about 30k miles (yes thirty!) for £notmuch you buy it don't you!

My goodness it's lovely. I've hated French cars but I like this one very much

It'll go to Mother_FolkUs, if she doesn't want/like it I'll be shedding a Focus or two and keeping it myself

TDLR; I'm a French car convert

No pics m8 - its a cosmetically challenged Citroen Xsara Picasso. Use your imagination. But it's not Ronnie Pickering Red I'll say that much :D

Been looking for a good one for awhile.Bought this earlier ,turned  14000 miles on clock on the way home to West Wales.lived in Worcester all its life less than 700 miles a year. Underneath and sills great. Slight corrosion on front edge of inner arch.it drives like new,

Will it last twenty years as per my abused original.?

some of the panels have been badly rattle canned to cover a few parking scuffs, let’s hope I can tcut this offD6A65053-1282-482D-B3D2-1E78D12D9F91.thumb.jpeg.91bcd10cdff9af624e65de9f4658a02f.jpeg

You sir are a winner. These are gr11 cars and provided you can keep the rust moth at bay are a really enjoyable car to drive.

850 or 989cc?

Its absolutely hanging at the moment so I'd be embarrassed to photograph it . The best way I can describe it is that its like its been used as a portable Household Waste Recycling Centre. Every corner is scraped and there's multiple dents, but I'll sort the cosmetics out as its a really nice car underneath the cosmetics. The interior smells like a combination of a farmer's armpit (damp livestock) and a mouldy smelling "Yankee" air freshener. But I'll sort that too.

I'll get a picture of it when it looks better. But for now, have this generic one from the internet. It looks just like it (same spec + colour) - just more damaged and dirty!

A Coure, fantastic! They only weight about 700kg minus any "Cuore Oxide" that may develop, great fun! I currently have one too many vehicles on the fleet so must refrain from any silly eBay searches....!

I should have said!

1.6 Petrol, it's the 16v unit so slightly nippier (compared to the 8v anyway) with 109bhp.

And it's a.....

(Not sure if they even did an automatic 1.6 petrol, I'm sure a Citroen guru will be along in due course to confirm either way 🙂)

I'll certainly keep you in mind but I can't imagine I'll be letting go of it any time soon even if it's rejected by Mother_FolkUs 😉

This is probably old news to the BL lickers among you, but I've just learned there was a Portuguese-assembled Morris Ital (badged Marina there) with a 37bhp 1.5 B-series diesel.

Imagine that. Whatever you are driving today, and no matter how badly it is behaving, it isn't going to be as arse-clenchingly awful as a diesel Ital.

Massive amounts of want from this quarter, of course.

Just got the invoice for my council garage rent and it's gone up by over £200 from last year. ☹️ What with this and the other bills going up it might be time to reduce the fleet.

Back from a few days holiday in North Wales. Here's the Sierra at Lake Bala-another 500 miles completed.

I applied a good coat of Fabisil to the roof of the red Saab today. It soaks up loads and used nearly 2 litres! I'll do the same on the roof of black one next.20220408_170002.thumb.jpg.8cac31c19028cd6181dc07df217163e4.jpg20220408_170024.thumb.jpg.3a86edf8f63d2d548d3e09d3b5146bbd.jpg

The Audi barely gets used and the battery was completely flat again and I had to pull it out of the garage and jump start it. New battery and some usage this weekend required! Looks nice though all polished up and with the hood reduced and sealed.

Redyed the Audi hood as well and sealed it with Fabisil over the course of a few days.

I'll do an oil and filter change over the next few weeks.

I just found these photos on my Flickr. I took them in August 2016!

I know where these were taken - south London, very close to where RobT lives.

Was this an AS car at that point?

Finally got the TF out for some fun yesterday… well… I took it to work and went the long way home anyway!

Battery is definitely suspect… and those Lexus lights will go, but this seems a good fun thing to have!

My three bays of storage have gone up £864 from last year. It's definitely made me seriously consider reducing the amount of cars I have.

Aye so the Audi was stone deid again this morning so the battery is definitely toast.

Normally I'd get a YUASA 1000 or whatever from ebay for £40 but I really wanted to use it today. It doesn't get used much at weekends as the boot is too small to take the scooters  and we're normally at the skatepark then. However we are going down to Greystone in Manchester next week so we are having a relaxing weekend so I really wanted to use the car now.

Cue Halfords availing me of £92 as the car needs a bigger than standard battery.

Also, I had to call on all my tool reserves to get the battery clamp bolt out as none of my sockets would fit. Thankfully I have this really ancient socket set that has imperial sizes, I finally found it was a 1/2 inch bolt. WTF!

Anyway, I'm out in it now so all good!

Not much spannering this weekend, light duties only as I'm trying to retain some usability in my almost completely fucked arm (from undoing an oil filter by hand as it was the easiest way).

Daughter number 2 must have been a bit bored with A level studying during the Easter break, she asked me to nab a traffic cone on my travels, being a caring member of society and not wanting to cause chaos near the endless amount of roadworks locally I found one in a bush looking sorry for itself, £10 worth of B&M paint later and we have Patrick Star in the conservatory now.

Not much going on here, thought I had convinced the wife to let me get a new Dacia jogger and sell the Espace but in the time it took me to go collect some gear for the garage, she’d been on eBay looking for kitchens so I can’t sell it as apparently I have more Shitely activity coming my way.

I did one vehicular thing today, refilled the wife’s screenwash with some B&Q advanced red stuff. I must pass on my congratulations* to the master perfumier  they employed to mix it - I normally like the smell of screenwash but this stuff is eye watering my horrific. It must require an expert hand to make it smell like the perfect blend of Methylated Spirit, stale wine and cat’s piss.

Cleans well though.
