I don't think the bonnet is high enough for a Shadow - more something like an XJ I'd have thought, though I'm not sure the tail is long enough for that.

My best guess for this is a Silver Shadow (series 1 because of the chrome bumpers.) The bumper looks like the same shape with the wheel arch, and the crease in the wings looks the same aswell.

We have a winner.

I thought the bonnet line looked a little low too, but apparently not.

I didn't start pulling at the cover though; looks like it's been parked up for a while, and oddly the tax is shown as expired (but not SORNed).

It's also parked up in a student area, but hopefully no-one will go fiddling with it after a few sherbets too many.

I took the Charade for a drive at lunchtime with the laptop plugged in to the OBD port to get a live coolant temp readout.  It's sitting at 88 degrees.  Which means that the poor heater would appear to be down to a blocked matrix.  New matrices for these don't appear to be available so I'm going to have to hope I can get the existing one cleaned out OK.

I also noticed a "feature" I hadn't spotted before.  When you get in the car the milometer displays a scrolling message saying "Hello Happy".  When you switch off it says "See you Good-by" [sic].  How very Japanese...

I plugged the laptop into the Scénic as well to see if I could get the wipers to work using the "ping" function in the Delphi software, but that didn't work.  I'm going to take the wiper arms and scuttle panel cover off at the weekend and clean up the connections to the motors to see if that helps (although it looks pretty clean and dry in there from what I can see).  The second rear spring is apparently now on its way, so I've got to try and fit those at the weekend too - the weather is supposed to be utterly shite though so I can see it being a fun* task...

That's brilliant... and isn't there someone on here who has those very words set as their signature?

At least I know where it's from now!

The ongoing shitfight with the Clio brakes are throwing up new issues at every step.

Received a replacement master cylinder from Lithuania after weeks of waiting, only to find detail differences that mean it won't fit.

I did buy a rebuild kit for the existing MC but even that's causing an issue, as I try to fathom how to remove this spring clip, which the masochists at Renault thoughtfully fitted with no holes:

Any helpful ideas would be much appreciated, as this is truly getting me down, now.

Just looking at the seal kit, I think that too is wrong but I'm hoping that some bits will be of use, or I can get a round bit of rubber locally. But I won't know until I can get inside...

Forgot to say. So far on the above,I've tried to drill in tiny holes to get my spring clip pliers in but obviously, that didn't work on what I assume is hardened steel.

Had a go at using smaller flat head screwdrivers but am worried that too much force will damage either me, or the bit behind the clip.

Have downed tools for tonight, hoping that fresh eyes tomorrow might help.

The usual method of dealing with those anti-tamper circlips (bloody manufacturers) is to drill a small hole through the side of the nose of the cylinder, until you touch the side of the circlip, then use a small punch to knock it out to the point you can get a screwdriver in there to ping it out.

They are awkward bloody things and hopefully the repair kit is a) the right one and b) comes with a replacement conventional circlip.

If the kit is wrong, look up the Autofren Siensa part number here and either quote it to a Siensa agent in NZ or just put the number into ebay. They have repair kits for most cars.

Great tyres the Cross Climates. Timed the fitting just right too, with OMGSNOKAOS forecast. Did you qualify for the cashback promo ? I'm due a whopping £25 off Michelin for spending £300 on Cross Climates.

Poor little sausage :(

I'll try and keep the nasty car away from you.

Do you need me to put trigger warnings up?

Today's been a write-off work wise as the Combo has been stuck at the diesel specialists all day to figure out my fuel pressure issues, and is now there for the night. Also had to empty the van last night, including removing the ply-lining (as a nice gesture to the guys, in case they needed access to the lift pump in the tank). My hallway is now the van - fuck me, that's a lot of shit I cart around with me every day. I am fed up of tripping over my own shit in my narrow passageway (missus) every time I go the front door, the back door or the kitchen.

Started the 600 up to move it along one parking space, next to my friendly neighbour's car ('er at number 12 with the two boys who always appear by magic just as I'm about to start something complicated mechanically). Primarily this is so that access to the megavalue catalytic converter is restricted to any ne'er-do-wells. This means 'them at number 11' can now park an extra van outside their home, to go with the other 5 wreckers parked at the end of our cul-de-sac (1 of which successfully leaked god only knows what all over the road, up the road, and all along the next road). Think there's some dodgy van trading going on. Until they get a Euro6 van I'm staying away.

OMGSNOKAOS - really? Have you been reading the Daily Express?

Disclaimer: I'm not in Scotland.

Yes, yes I have. And it's all true. Every day in every year that they report it. And it eventually becomes true.

TBF, I will be up in the Derbyshire Dales/Peak District on Saturday on a regular delivery run, and the white stuff might make an appearance up there. Cos the Express says so. And Sky

They're brilliant! Snow is forecast around my way on Saturday. The road is rarely gritted, so I decided after having a little moment* in the snow last year, it would be best to get these!

You won't be disappointed - they absolutely rock in the snow. Cue me steaming past 20mph dawdlers on the M1 on the one day we actually had heavy snow earlier this year, with no loss of traction whatsoever. Gr8 in the wet too.

Bang on! I did run winter tyres for a few years, but then a run of mild winters made it difficult to justify.

Glad they performed well for you in the snow...

My little moment is coming back to me now; approaching the end of the road on the brakes. Nice and gentle. Then oh fuck! Stop you cunt!!! We did. Just in time... I may* have released a pellet or two... 😅😅😅

Well yes if you plan on posting any more photos of that or if you plan on wrecking any more and posting pictures of the results.

Caution! A silly car, because cars are silly things and you shouldn't take them seriously:

Nope, 18s. Audi A3 S-Line.

They looks great on it. They don't look as good on my Skoda but I am a fan of simple 5 spokes... They are easy to clean as well!
