I shall be off north tomorrow to see the @Saabnut of Jockshire to see to his Roller. Looking forward to it.

A little bit nervous as I've never done this kind of thing but reasonably confident.  I shall take pictures.

I'd better bring some Belgian beer that  I have just in case.

I think my car may have a Traction Control issue, a warning message came up on the display and now the light is permanently on.

Perhaps it didn't like the deluge of non-stop rain over the past few days?

Seems a pretty solid and comfortable place to be. In fair order mechanically but a few giffer scrapes to the bodywork.

First time I've ever owned a saloon or an auto.  Hoping it'll be a reliable winter beater while the BX comes off the road.

We’re slowly forming the Welsh Saab Massive! We’ll rival the SVM before too long...

Cracking looking purchase that. I’m getting more and more inclined towards a 9-5.

Sat on a cold railway station platform awaiting travel to Christchurch. Done a stupid and bought a V8 unseen off eBay. Fingers crossed it's a, as described and b, gets me home!

Well made it 15 miles and broke down. Looks like it's bit the bullet. Was cruising lovely at 55mph, yes honestly, then suddenly started emitting clouds of blue smoke out both pipes. No overheating, no coolant loss, oil in water or vice versa. No obvious bubbles in coolant. It would appear to be crankcase breather or something. Awaiting recovery.

Today they did. 👍

Reviews say replace the inlet pipe with a stiff copper pipe, as the plastic pipe curls at the bottom of the dipstick.

Spent about a day and a bit cleaning the van. Yesterday used some TFR, then washed it, clay barred, and cleaned it again. Today T-cut, buffer using heavier grade compound, buffer using medium compound, buffer using lightest compound, followed by polish, paint protector and then wax. Sills had a little surface rust, so sprayed them up then got the heat gun and back-to-black on the plastics.

Hard to get a decent photograph, but for a 13 odd year old high mileage van, it's surprisingly decent.

If you search Google for 'lidl oil pump forum'

Loads of things pop-up, some say they're brilliant and some say "it will destroy the engine instantly" 😒

Panda sump plugs are like this, in my head one day the thread will just continue straight inside the sump. Plus I hate using oil pans. I'll be using this in the green Alessi in a few weeks. It could be handy to fill the 4x4 gearbox up to, using it backwards.

Maybe a few hundred ml left behind vs sump plug.

I'm happy with that.

yes, it's no different from ebay really apart from you have to wait longer for things.  I have had no issues.

safe to order from no card dodgy dealings?

Met my sister’s family up in bix north of Henley this afternoon. About 4.30 this plane was doing acrobatics overhead.

NB. For those going to Warburg Nature Reserve at bix, the road is appalling - single track with few passing places.

This stuff...5mm external (1m long). I'm hoping I can connect that to the plastic pipe it comes with. £6, so half as much again as the pump, but if it makes it more reliable, worth a go.

Probably. I've ordered 5 or 6 six things with no issues. I've had cards ripped off twice before over the years - not from aliexpress! - (and had to claim back hundreds of pounds both times) so I'm usually not keen to throw my details around, but I'm comfortable using it.
