As well as the card, are we sorting out some sort of collection? Maybe get a little something for his daughter (premium bond/s?), something that can go towards her future. Never know she might win a million quid or something

We are on it. I think Stanky is sorting something out

We could get cavcraft to store an astra in his field, then present it to her on her 18th. Can see no flaw with that plan...

An SRi model or GTi or whatever the sporty one is/ was called would probably be a decent investment - just not if it's stored on wet grass in a field..

Found out today, that the claim on my insurance on the wee Polo, that someone drove into whilst parked, then buggered off, is a FAULT claim on my part. Even though I was 12 miles away at the time it was my fault, and increases my premium for both the camper and the Bandit. EH? That's with protected no claims too.

Just been catching up, and I understand why Greg did what he did, been so close myself even very recently. He's been through so much hell that he could no longer cope, and yes everyone does have that breaking point. His family will be going through a rollercoaster of emotions right now, and will never come to terms with what happened, this echos my friend Sheldon, his ex banned him from seeing his kid, and it utterly destroyed him. Sheldon was 29 when he took his life. He is now free of his demons, and will now be at peace, and the guilt of those who hurt him will be there forever.

Exactly the same with me. All this uninsured driver cover seems to be bollocks.

Which reminds me, got the renewal through for ours - up £100 from last year for no,reason at all so time for a bit of Meerkat bothering later

Because it's not a no blame bonus. It's a no claim bonus. Make the claim and you lose the bonus. Doesn't matter who's fault it is, if there is no other party to claim off, or for your insurers to persue, you're fucked.

When my OH had her accident with her Berlingo a few years back, we could have claimed for it, but we worked out it was cheaper to just scrap it and buy a replacement. The claim would have put up both of our insurances for years.

I don't really keep up-to-date with all the threads on here, coupled to the fact that I'm a slow reader I just don't have enough time unfortunately.

I would just like to pass on my condolences Hendry's family & friends at such a sad time. I really don't have the vocabulary to express my sadness at this news and I didn't know the chap. I lay awake last night with my mind running and had a pretty crap nights sleep, we never really know what people are going through until it's to late.

Very sad news indeed.

I've been thinking about how the crap car hobby brings us together as DW said, and it reminds me of how a lot of us are so obsessed sometimes, like Hendry. My mum wrote this to me a few days ago....which kind of sums up how it starts in the cradle!

I started to teach you to read because You had learnt the cars on the road, you may have been as young as one when you repeated Ford escort, our car, parked in Whitstable road, I know you were sitting up in the pram, I was very surprised. And from then on I told you all the cars I knew, and you repeated and remembered them. I think when you were around 18 months I'd run out of cars to tell you...

If a Greg Hendry yellow window sticker in the Arnold Shark style could be sorted, I'd be proud to have one.

Yes, we all found him a PITA at times and I took the piss out of him but he was clearly a nice guy with a lot of knowledge and very much part of this place. He's genuinely irreplaceable.

*Anyone who ever says suicide is a cowards way out can go fuck themselves btw.

+1 million.

That would be a great tribute to him (although he wasn't keen on the dealer itself...)

Managed to drive round to Aldi (using DW approved start in 2nd gear method) so OMGMILKCRISIS averted.

Here it has been OMGBREADKAOS! Having said that after clearing all the snow off the Jizz, I went down to Lidl to buy some booze, Bavarian pretzels, a loaf of bread and somehow ended up with some power tool attachments in the basket.

It is a bit shit to the main road, but it's hardly impassable. (Might prove interesting after freezing though)

One of these weeks I'll manage to get round that shop without succumbing to a Weekly Special Buy.

I managed it this week as I couldn't afford the compressor & air tools along with already owning all the other specials I want.

Stunned by the news of Hendry passing. Just don't know what to say. I think we all pulled his leg a bit over his utterly astounding knowledge of spec levels and trim differences, but if we didn't have quirks who would we be?

He'll be missed.

I've thought that too, but TBH even that stopped when we realised he did actually know what he was on about, rather than just keyboard bashing.

What a Shock!!

Having driven the car twice today the engine heat has caused the snowsheet to slide off the bonnet and splodge onto the bumper.. It then froze :/

Driving along, it suddenly flipped back (size and thickness of a dinner plate) and smashed into the screen!!

Shit a HotOne :(

No damage fortunately...

*the whole roof/ice slice exited (at a right turn) and sounded like a bloody gun.

Ice/sno on my car fell off.

You mean you didn't clear it before driving off?

Pleasantly surprised by Parcelforce service today..

Further to this I've had an auto txt to tell me they won't deliver today despite the brakes now sitting in my hallway..

Gotta love the data crossover.

A friend has been selected to be in the audience on Question Time tomorrow in Blackpool.

I hope she does well.
