Possibly the best £33 I've ever spent and definitely the best brake pipe flaring tool I've ever used. Perfect flares on a steel pipes still attached to the car and with limited access. An absolute life saver. Repairs to the CRV are progressing well. Next step is to make 4 repair lines and connect up the rear brake proportional valve. Not much space where it all has to live but still more fun than having to replace the complete lines as some of them are hidden behind the steering rack!

I have had one of those for YEARS and t has been brilliant. even done half pipes under cars flaring the original pipes which I thought was impossible (Mondeo brake pipe over the petrol tank... my sons many years ago).

Is that a Mazda 626 saloon on top of the Merc Sprinter? Rear door for RobT? Or could be a Carina Saloon....

Thats a Carina saloon.

I'd guess that yard has scrapped a few UK-registered cars in its time.....

I wonder how scrapyards get insurance pay outs? £x per burntout wreck?

Legacy breakers near Wrexham (the Jag guy)

Had a fire at least twice a year, usually when the kids were on school holidays

Owner used to blame them but it always seemed to be the modern stuff that went up

Never his beloved Jaguars

My daily driver Citroen Bx just passed its mot, totally unexpected as i intended to take it off the road to do all the expected repairs. Guess I'll just carry on driving it now!

Sounds like a scrappy near us that catches fires every 2 years without fail . Just as their pile of old tyres is at its peak id imagine

Left The Aero at my local garage this evening, in order to get a new MOT put on it tomorrow (the old one runs out at midnight tonight), as for various reasons, I don't think I'll be awake early enough to take it in the morning:

I can't see it failing, but if it does, I don't expect it will fail on much, and I have The Volvo on hand to keep me mobile ^^

EDIT (12/1): After fitting a new rear fog light bulb (a freebie from the garage), the car is MOTed for another year. Deep joy!

Yes we've had that suggested before, so I bought one. Mine cost a bit less. They are good and very small.

So small I used it once and lost it. Am sure its in the Van somewhere.

Was in court today. Accompanying my foster child. So he has pleaded not guilty before. Today managed to convince him to plead guilty. Take the consequences of his actions. This was mainly because his defence was. "They are not my fingerprints at the crime scene" .even though they were a 100% match. Had to convince him that everybody's fingerprints are unique and no two people are the same. He thought we all have the same ones. The future of society is safe. *

Testers have been told not to anymore, I think some were threatened by whoever is in charge now as they are open to public view.

It's raining... Get home and check for leaks into the 635 as it's interior is partially removed now... Door seal is definitely leaking just as I suspected... Oh wait...what's that dripping down from behind the dash... Wha the heck... So is the windscreen... Yay. I'm so happy about this that I'm going to shut my hand in a door, repeatedly.

Is anyone local to Southampton?

I have a meeting at the national oceanography Centre in the eastern docks in a fortnight and was wondering if there were any local tips for rush hour traffic? I have parking reserved ( being group chairman has some privileges.)

I can haz brake pipes. It's like a cross between a pipe fitters wet dream and a modern art installation with just a hint of bodge. A bit of a squeeze but everything is in place and secure and no pipes are touching each other (or anything else) so no chance of chaffage. Need to pick up some brake fluid after work tomorrow and get it all bled up before normal service resumes.

Must admit I had to zoom in to double check. You'd think I know the difference seeing as I own one, but my eyes fail me...!

What sort of time? Mercrocker is probably your man but if it were me, I'd go M3 > M27 > M271 > Millbrook road along the western docks, then peel off towards Westquay. The roads are busy, but those are the biggest roads into that area of town so always seem to be the slowest to clog up when I've gone that way, even in morning rush hour.

Sorry, only just seen this thread....Right, Oceanography Centre.

As Stanky suggests come in on M27, M271 and stay inside lane.   You will then turn left at the end of the M271, onto A35 for the route above.

If you are coming from the east of Southampton there is an alternative to leave M27 at J8 on to the A3024 (don't go near the Itchen Toll Bridge - follow City Centre go over Northam Bridge and turn left after leaving the bridge - this takes you into Millbank Street and will connect to the Eastern Docks.

Thirdly you could come down the M27, A33 and into the northern end of Southampton via The Avenue and follow Eastern Dock signage

None of these are particularly pleasant at rush hour but I agree with Stanky that M271 route will be least likely to have actually stopped....

I explained to a regular offender one day that his fingerprints were found at the point of entry in a housebreaking.
