Wow, I have been driving past that abandoned garage for years and nothing ever seems to move.  I think those Transits have been there since the day they came off service, they'd probably break in half if moved.  It's something I'd love to have a poke around.  Depending on which route you took, did you spot the abandoned Renault dealer a bit down the road?  Been closed for a good couple of decades now but still looks the same as the day it closed.

That coach looks oddly familiar. Is it Dorset, south of Bristol somewhere?

New tyre, valve etc on the Volvo now, and it's back on all four wheels. One of the wheelnuts is different to the other 4 I noted, wasn't as stiff to do up. No idea what was going on there.

If I can get the wheels refurbed, and the headlining and sunroof sorted out, I'll have a bloody nice car. Probably going to redo the headlining in a light grey then paint the sunroof crank shroud and light surround in grey primer, the factory one is beige for some reason and it doesn't quite look right in there, considering the rest of the interior is black and dark green. Even with the acres of glass it's quite a dark place to be so a light headlining and being able to open the sunroof should help no end.

The tyre/MOT place has this 1937 Buick sitting outside:

No, can't say I recall seeing that. I'll have to go back for another nose.

I was talking nonsense as it turns out.  It's not on that road at all, it's on the A386 to Plymouth.

Looks pretty sorry for itself now, the 2008 shot is more how I remember it when I used to drive that road more often.  The Laguna and 156 has been parked behind it for years but disappeared a while back.  Doesn't look like there's much to see there now anyway.

And it looks like it’s been taped the outside of u571 for the last 10 years.

I also did a few hundred miles in the cockpit of a 2017 2.0 diesel mondeo. And it was most pleasant. A real nice gear shift. Mega quiet and handled ace like they all do.

Is actually a lot more refined at speed than the x6 I have been using since sun as I thought the disco was going to be off the road longer than it was.

If you were anywhere west of Crediton, that IS a road.

We went on holiday to Tenby a while ago. The sat nav in my RCZ sent us down roads narrower than that. If I'd have put another coat of wax on it before we'd left we'd have struggled.

Tenby is definitely west of Crediton, so I rest my case.

(As is my house, in case anyone thinks I’m being all metropolitan and sniffy about things. I like small roads. Also, they are fine for sensible sized cars designed before Hilda left Corrie.)

I had a collection caper today, fetching a Volvo 265 Estate from Leeds.

It has no engine, needs four doors replacing and the axle needs to be swapped out and returned to the previous owner. Needs a ton of mig wire using on it and repaint.

It was, however, free and I really want to do it justice. My initial thoughts on engine choice are ES9J4 V6, as you would find in a Renault / PSA vehicle, a modern take on the previous incumbent of the engine bay. Views and recommendations welcome though.

Best way to do that justice is advertise it on Gumtree for £5.57 and a packet of Fruit Pastilles and wait for theshadow to turn up.

DO NOT PAINT! Well done that man and good luck

It’s got to be painted, the replacement doors are white and it would play havoc with my OCD!

Fair play to you! That thing looks way worse than my 740 did when I dragged it off its previous owners drive!

Fingers crossed it's not too rotten.

If it were mine I'd be ditching French engine ideas and either getting a nice big V8 (Lexus?) or failing that a T5 ovloV lump.

A post 1988 Volvo 760 V6 is a much improved engine and I have thought that it would improve the asthmatic feel of an original 260.
