Why on earth can people not leave space between the next car when driving in icy conditions? Invariably some sort of VAG product, hanging off your arse. Can't they find a articulated trailer or something to tailgate?

Just been for a run out in my clio as it hasn’t moved in weeks. Popped along to Donno as there was a track day on and it’s a good half hours viewing for free.

This beaut was there.

It was Harry Metcalfe’s from Evo magazine and Harry’s garage fame

As someone who's been bought up in Civics and subsequently owned a pair myself, there is nowt wrong with a CTR imo.

French Autojumble and show, 1 hour from Calais.

I might have to pencil this one in (hoping that it doesn't clash with Shitefest).

Nice work Phil, that looks ace.

I used to see a lot of these kind of contraptions in rural Bulgaria and was well jell of the pensioners pottering around the villages on them.

That exhaust looks like a nice foot warmer for winter too.

For something that's been made in a Play-Doh mould from pure Chinesium, it's not bad, especially given that the entire kit came in under $100. It feels, sounds and smells like the proper mopeds of yore. Gotta pull the exhaust off and bend the tube round a bit, right now it clears everything but isn't really in a good place and I can't clamp the lower bracket on. Plan is to putz to work on it in winter, when it's cool enough outside to. Got a nice analog speedometer with odometer coming for it, need some lights and a bell, then registration forms and then I need to go get my motorcycle endorsement to actually ride the thing. Requires helmet and goggles too, legally. I'm thinking Dam Busters.

I've acquired a huge shelving unit for the garage. Proper racking! It was being given away and is proper sturdy. I've spent about two hours desperately trying to make room for it. I've a nasty feeling it might end up blocking the 2CV in, but I'm sure I can resolve that one way or another.

Might join you. Then we can fight over any Rancho / Simca 1100 panels they have for sale.

What’s the best way of getting horrible fag smell out of a car?

Fooking reeks! Makes it worse I’m an x smoker! Vile horrible smell

Best way is to buy a new car. Second best is to replace the entire interior.

Alternatively you can just wet vac the seats a load of times, blitz the carpet, headlining etc, wipe the fuck out of all the plastics about ten times with dilute TFR, clean the glass with glass cleaner and vinegar a few times and then it will still smell a bit.

Ozone generators(£30 ebay) can help break the smell down too, but honestly, you'll never 100% get rid of it. When you open the door on a hot day it'll always pong a little bit.

I had a Saxo about ten years ago I bought off a bird who smoked. I got it cheap enough but could never 100% shift the smell.

You'll have to clean every surface you can touch with dettol and a magic sponge, then wetvac all the carpets and seats about 5 times, then let a couple of odour bombs off, then if you're lucky it'll only smell a little bit, until you get to a warm day then it will stink again.

Smoking is fucking disgusting, I would never buy a car from a smoker again, you cannot ever get rid of the smell, just imagine what their houses must smell like.

Maiden voyage successful! Goes pretty well, considering. Repaired the puncture, too.

Yes, my mess is now more vertical. Scored a really decent heavy-duty shelving unit. Ran some old floor boards around the middle bench, to stop stuff rolling off it, and one end has nails for tool hanging. Even built a small shelf unit at the back out of old pallets. Need to do further work along those lines methinks. There are a lot of empty oil and water bottles that I need to dispose of. They're clogging up the bottom shelf at the moment.

That's about six hours of work! I hate tidying up.

Posted

So do I!

Instead of tidying as I go I let it dissolve into chaos until it becomes impossible to walk around. # stupid idiot

Yes, I'd very much got to that stage. My video followers may have had a point. Still a LOT of work to do, but as I'm not a NYE party type, I'll be able to crack on tomorrow.

Good effort Ian! Something's it s nice to be able to move without fear of

of tripping up/smashing the part you need by standing on it..

Wish I could achieve it!

Drove back from Wrexham to Surrey this morning. 190 miles, 3hours 20mins- a record, and I didn’t go over 65 either as the bike on roof makes me nervous. made over 30mpg too. Just given it a wash as the poor thing had mud on the roof from the mountain bike. Now it’s raining.

My only interaction with the fiat over the week was to get rid of some leaves that had blown into the garage. The only reason it’s lasted so long so far is to keep it away from salty wet roads.

i was talking to my parent’s neighbours Dad yesterday about the merc. He wanted to know if it had a spare wheel. He said he has a new e class ( was in a Peugeot partner thing yesterday) and had a puncture last week, no spare, just foam. But he’s run over a metal packing strip which put a 6inch slash across the tread. Aa took 3.5 hours and recovered him to the nearest place that was available for tyres then which was st Asaph. Had his mother, 90, and his grandchildren in the car too. He says he’s going to try and get Mercedes to give him a spare.

I wished him good luck!
