That's longer with you than most cars will actually exist new - scrap, a worthy purchase!

I've had mine just short of a year so far, it will be many many more though as I'm not letting this one go.

I've had my Capri just over 16 years! Time flies! It doesn't seem that long ago.

It's definitely a car which has lived up to its manufacturer's promises of quality, reliability and durability. Pity that very few other people have gone the distance with their own examples. At least the car is now rare and interesting as a consequence.

My anniversary gift to the car, a used-but-as-new 1990s Blaupunkt Canberra RCM 85 radio/cassette player which I fitted just before it got dark this afternoon. It looks period-correct and sounds great:

That's a good idea, actually.

It had some rear silencers last time I visited it like it would seem...

Just got this off ebay as there's no specific BOL for the R8 diesels - have to make do with a XUD BOL and one for the petrols

All I need* now is the vehicle to go with it.... (have one in my crosshairs at the moment)

If you follow some of my threads, you may remember this.

It's what sparked my interest off in getting into old British cars. Then a rather large thread of me dilly dallying around looking for MGBs. Anyway it came back onto eBay and it's just been relisted.

First time it was old pictures. Now it's been relisted, he's put up new. Out of the pictures, this one caught my eye...

Looks like I dodged a bullet there! I have need to give a small thanks to all those on here that told me to avoid it. Admittedly, buying it may have made for a more intensive owners thread...

I wonder if it'll be a barn find in a couple of years time?

You would have made a much better sign than that though.

EDIT, just remembered yours broke down didn't it?

Oh bollicks, MrsH has brought the Rover back with a rather large crack adorning the windscreen.

I'm not going to claim on the insurance for it, no point.

]I've owned The Volvo for 14 years today, which is a long time to own anything, let alone a car; I have only owned a few books, some ornaments, some soft toys and a leather jacket for longer.

May it keep rolling for many more years to come!

EDIT: an actual photo from the eBay listing for the car. Compare and contrast with how it is 14 years later:

Isn’t it free, Or is that just chip repairs? I’ve had repairs to the fiat and merc last year or two and doing both were free and don’t affect the renewal.

There's an excess to pay and I think it counts as a claim...

Seems to still work.

I was getting pissed off with the steering column adjustment - then realised there was a separate adjuster (one of three) which locked the wheel into place.
I hadn't realised until now. DERP.

Excess is normally only for screen replacement & a claim for a new screen didn't affect my renewal a few years ago.

Usually a £70 excess but shouldn't count as a claim. Don't know who you are with but direct line haven't cared when I have had them replaced.

Every year I renew with directline, they say that it doesn't make a difference to the price but they do need to record of you've had a windscreen claim.

It's OMGSNOKHAOSed here overnight, so the drive to work is going to be fun*.  Still, at least I get to try out the Rover's winter tyres.

A friendly independent will often "lose" the excess, although some insurance companie insist on Autoglass etc.

It's minus 4, the trailers brake lights need repair. It's a boring frozen collection.

Some* moron didn't mix their screenwash strong enough and had to drive 45 miles this morning without it. Thankfully the commute is mostly dark A road in the morning.

Ill join you in that club! Well, I presumed mine is the same, darednt try and face 4 smear wipes which would have killed all vision so soldiered on! Will chuck a kettle of hot water in the tank at lunchtime so I can get home and sort it out tonight*

Rub a handful of snow on the screen to get it wet & flick the wipers on. Works for mirrors too on a long drive.

The Subaru looked great but the front panel was being worked on so it was missing headlights/grill/bumpers/etc.

After boasting how reliable our Saab is it has just FTP! I should have kept my mouth shut.

Mrs Beard just rang to say she is stuck in Tesco car park in Burnley. Car cranks but won't start.

Gah!

Currently awaiting AA.

The vectra has gone. Made just over five hundred, winning bidder has already taken it.

Verdict is fuel pump failure. Apparently fairly common around 150k.

Currently being recovered to the friendly local garage.
