Meandering to get the Morris...

There seems to be some widespread misconception that this is a hopeless pile of scrap.

Well, it is not.

It's fully functional as a car and merely needs some odds and ends sorting to be really good. It has hitherto not failed once to get to a destination, in fact, it drives very well.

The heater fan currently doesn't work, but once the car is in motion, there is sufficient airflow to demist the windows after a while since the heater works.

I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to the end of the world and a 200+ mile trip is probably the best thing happening to it in a long time.

It shouldn't be pushed on the motorway though and I wouldn't have done so even when it was new. I bet the car will be transformed once this trip is over.

I don't think there is - it's more like the old theatre maxim of, "Break a leg!"

Looks like Tickman is struggling to contain his enthusiasm* :D

It is about as good as it gets really!

Good luck chaps, although I have no doubts about the old Morris doing the journey without issue. I was seriously tempted by the car myself but Mrs bigstraight6 said no unless I sell one of my others which I don’t want to do, I even tried talking my petrolhead youngest son to buy it, but when I showed him the pics he just shook his head in disbelief, there’s no accounting for taste these days..

I've never really critically looked at the design of these cars- for such a typically porridge design overall it has some very risqué lines on the bonnet. I wonder how that got through design approval?

Nice pipe! Top work to all concerned

If pre-Farina Oxfords weren't available with a dash-mounted pipe rack on the options list, they ought to have been.

As you can see I still haven't found the invisible thread that links my arm to the tailgate

Tebay has been achieved, and I have introduced the locals to the concept of a roll and chips:)

When I enjoy a smoke at the wheel, I am always looking for somewhere to rest my pipe to keep it upright.

Also what are the 2 gauges to the far left? I Love informative instrument clusters, a selection of warning lights/ messages simply won't do.

Top left = Amps

Top Right = temp (inop)

Bottom left = oil

Bottom right = Fuel

Outstanding.

From the man who uses a 70s Lotus as his Company car, that means a lot!
