Dollywobbler's Invacar - Ongoing

Bit annoyed that I set out today to sort out logistics for this mess, and instead just ended up rendering the Lexus completely unusable. I have located a tow bar for the Lexus, but it is in Reading, which is not helpful.

I shall be driving past Reading on Wednesday, on my way home to 5 miles south of bromyard, if that is any help.

Thanks, but I've gone off the Lexus tow car idea. Especially as I've just destroyed the rad shroud...

A LWB transit is apparently large enough and has twice the weight capacity over a single invacar. That and some scaffolding planks to get it up should do it. Would require two runs though.

Right. I think I've decided to go for a 7.5t box van. For a start, I haven't driven a truck for seven years, and I'd like another go. Secondly, it'll be large enough to take both Invacars, and the tail-lift will definitely be useful too. They can be lifted with a forklift at the start, so it'd getting them out I'm worried about. With that in mind, I might go for a three-day hire as 56mph is going to be hard work...

Y'know what'd be ideal, a 7.5t gee gee box as they have a handy ramp even if they do pong of horseshit.

Drove a Leyland one years back. Noice.

Plus if it's pre 1 Oct 2001, You can piss through the diesel at a rate of knots because unlimited (70mph motorway limit applies) and also allowed outside lane action (https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q590.htm)

90km/h is too easy. Set cruise, make a cuppa, go to sleep, etc.

It's fucking boring mind you.

Yep. It doesn't matter to me how slow/old/crap/stinky a lorry is as long as it has got a decent radio and unknackered speakers.

Edited. Go on!!!

I have now sent off my application for a logbook for one of my new motors - the one I'm most interested in. Fingers crossed! If all goes well, and after actually being able to check it over, I may well apply for the other one too.

Misread that as 'would require two nuns though'. These collections threads are getting weirder, I tells ya...

Tail lifts are awesome devices. Best of luck!

If you're passing near j3 of the m3 do stop and say hello. I am sure* the police and neighbours would be fascinated!

Unlikely, but I'll bear it in mind. I tend to just carry on around to the M4 junction. Less hassle. Apart from last time, when there was a smash at the M4 junction...

Consider me an emergency car park. Well work carpark anyway- just off the chertsey junction on the m25.

Just a reminder folks, I'll be driving an empty 7.5 tonner from Welshpool to Sussex on Tuesday, which will be thrilling* (M6, M42, M40, M25 I suspect). If anyone needs a (very slow) lift, or anything big shifting, make yourself known.

On Wednesday, I'll be driving from Sussex back to Wales (along the M4) and will have some space in the back.

Bring water !  A drought is threatened by Southern Water,  reservoirs only a 1/3rd full  :-(

If you get into dire trouble , I might be around to help. Have you still got my number?

They're both in the truck after much faff. I have to drive home during a windy weather warning, then I have no idea how I'll get them out. Should be interesting! Full report when I'm able.

Just open the rear door, reverse up your drive then slam on, momentum will take care of the rest

Or tie some rope to the tow hook of another car and then something robust on the invacar, then drive away slowly? Also some planks or something for them to roll down smoothly.

Helium balloons.  A couple of hen party helium balloons.

Fixed that for weight involved........

Drag on to tail lift bit with it up at height using another car.... lower tail lift with invacar sat on it.
