Split_Pin Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 I used to be like you and have pristine cars and hated leaving them anywhere in case they got a ding or scratch. Then I gradually succumbed to this place and now I really enjoy 'ten-footer' cars which are presentable but I'd never notice another parking ding or scratch so never give it a second thought. Re the Navara my policy is a max of 2 people on my property or the car stays locked. They have 30 seconds to leave or the police will be called. They're also being recorded. Bren Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Sad about the passat. But simply not worth spending clutch type money on it. Certain vehicles attract the worst - try and have ( several ) people with you next time. N Dentressangle and Matty 2
comfortablynumb Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 I've found the ' oh my god, didn't realise it was that bad, I can't sell it then, my mate will scrap it, sorry for the wasted trip' method to work if telling them to fuck off might end badly Weird Car, yes oui si, MrGTI6 and 3 others 1 5
jonathan_dyane Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 I had that thing about 10 years ago with a Vectra. I had a bad feeling because as they were on their way I had a call with them wanting to negotiate the price. I explained that I would prefer them to come and see the car and make an offer but they wanted to negotiate a price on the phone. I said that we could agree a price on the phone but if they wished to do so there would be no further negotiations when they arrived. Naturally there was about 5 of them and they claimed to find various faults and were aggressive and intimidating with a derisory offer. I apologised for their wasted trip, jumped in the car and drove off but felt shaken up by the experience. Split_Pin, Peter C and N Dentressangle 3

I could see what was happening but was seriously outnumbered- i played the negotiation game but knew i was being scammed as it happened. I pondered over the different clientele a VDP 1500 vs a double cab pick up of a certain age might attract. Im more of a VDP person myself and proud of it. So sorry to hear this. Can only hope the universe gets it’s own back for you - I suspect it will. But agreed, the Navarra is a twat’s car, the VDP is for a sophisticated man of exceptional taste. You win. HMC Posted August 24, 2025 Author Posted August 24, 2025 Fleet news- After comings and goings and losing interest perhaps a bit- especially in stuff thats complicated and goes wrong and having enough of the general public - im now down to a very small car orientated fleet. Both under a litre. One litre beaters ftw. The micra doesnt even have PAS. Both are fun to drive. The micra feels the more eager performer in a straight line despite similar on paper figures. Im going to service the 107 ASAP as its a poor neglected little thing. Appearances are deceptive- despite the crunched boot the k11 has been loved by mainly 1 elderly owner that gave up driving at nearly 100; and the interior in particular is immaculate. The 107 is a former write off thats been used but not loved an awful lot. Although despite all this its still got its supplying dealer (in Dewsbury, w.yorks.) plates still. Only the “moderns” are working; the VDP now has overhauled working brakes and im going to service the engine and fit a powerspark electronic ignition on it- and use it. 500tops, Morris 63, Supernaut and 28 others 31

I had a week of fending off offers to buy one or another of my cars, keeping a really close eye on everything and returning their weird hate stares with a blank face. Nothing went missing or was damaged and eventually they left. Best avoided. Matty and comfortablynumb 2
Popular Post HMC Posted August 30, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted August 30, 2025 Fleet news. Solid (and 1.70 per month road tax) 1 litre beater And an incoming drop head coupe with dickey seat (a 1.1 litre VSCC Beater) a swift 10 p3 - made in coventry by hand and found to be not economically viable by 1931. this is a 1929 example with the all important dickey seat ive always wanted… Currently en route… Bizarrely here is a photo i found on the internet of it at a 1976 classic car meet (all the cars in the background were then current, most are worth more now) yes oui si, flat4alfa, bangernomics and 61 others 61 1 2

flat4alfa Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Going to be worth getting in contact with the Club - what am I saying of course you have already Make sure you go to website https://theswiftclub.co.uk/ and not: https://theswiftclub.com/ which is something else entirely and a 'Dickey Seat' might not mean the same sort of thing... flat4alfa Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 So, the Drop-Head Coupe at £245 would be ~£36k in today's money.
