montytom Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Good luck. Looking forward to seeing what it is HMC 1

I have known about it for a few years now through my DVLA research as it wears a form of a very early age related number plate (its an early import not a british domestic market machine) but I have never actually seen a picture of it until now LOL 2 hours ago, D.E said: Nah, it's obviously a single cylinder without doors. I was thinking along the lines of something with 1 Cylinder no doors and not even a steering wheel

HMC Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 Some good guesses 😜 2 seats. 6 cylinders . Not quick but sounds good. BMW “individual” velvet blue privatewire, ProgRocker, SiC and 21 others 24
HMC Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 I did fancy some discounted pork, but didn’t want dodgy guts afterwards. Very cheap boxsters were mainly silver, with cheap cover plates to hide the age. Sometimes a category c/d. They often looked fairly tidy but I didn’t want to be a wannabe Porsche 911 owner, not did I want nasty unexpected bills. No thanks. Not feeling brave. So instead I went for something altogether a bit cruder and more conventional, and even cheaper still. 2.0 inline 6 Manual. Sounds amazing but not quick; so well suited to the car. N Dentressangle, Tickman, RobT and 3 others 6
HMC Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 I went back via cheddar gorge. Did a pap of another fellow enthusiast whist getting a pic of the new acquisition. Wibble, MorrisItalSLX, Marm Toastsmith and 11 others 14
HMC Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 I Think the “individual” thing means it’s had some special order paint? I quite like the colour anyway. Back home now Tickman, Fabergé Greggs, wuvvum and 18 others 21
gadgetgricey Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 That looks awesome. Lovely colour. What happened/is happening to the Saab?
KitKat Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Well caught!! Describe your first impressions? Would you have rather got that eBay 240 or is Z3 more your thing?
N Dentressangle Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Looks really nice. I thought the 2l ones of these were the 4 pot, with the 6 cyl in the 2.5? These are a bargain at the mo, if you ask me, along with the contemporary SLK. You won't lose a penny on it, esp with that colour / interior combo.

Will sell it, I’m using it to put a plate I’ve got onto retention in my name, when the paperwork is back I will put it (back) up for sale.
straightSix Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 That colour is gorgeous. Not seen it before but it's gone right up there with techno violet in terms of BMW colours. Had the same engine in a 520i. Like you say, not fast but sounds lovely and silky smooth
Jim Bell Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 There's about three of these on my estate and they never seem to move. Nice to see one on a road! Does look like a lovely colour too. Well snagged.
andyberg Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Sod the car, I WANT some of them mustard corduroys 😁😁 KitKat, MorrisItalSLX, tapir and 4 others 2 5
Matty Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 My dad has a nice 2.8.not a sports car but a lovely thing to ride around in and like you said makes a nice noise. I'm a big fan of old bms so it's a ten from me

Is that cheddar gorge? I've had my Boxster for 3 years in a few days. Cat D and I'm tempted to put a cover plate on it. 🤣 Certainly no regrets in changing from my TT Mk2 for it. I did consider selling it the other week but after I started it up and went for a drive, decided that was a stupid idea. My neighbour was a 911 owner (now Audi R8) and his brother was a Boxster owner. He conceded the Boxster he enjoyed drive on the road more and the price difference between that and his 996 didn't justify any differences. Yes they can be expensive to run but there are good specialists about. I can recommend SCS Porsche in Honiton. Not a million miles away from you.
