I'm heading to the least attractive destination listed above, and it's not to collect another Vauxhall either.

It's bloody boiling and I'm feeling tired and vomitous. Perfect conditions for a caper then!

Checking in for updates.  God speed.

You're going to Maidstone is my guess. I think I have an idea what this might be....

If I'm wrong it better still be a french thing.

Bloody good luck in this shitty heat.

No, Maidstone is quite pleasant, I'm in flippin Luton. I can't meet the seller until 8pm, so I've used the time productively and bought some pants from M&S. Not so warm here so I'm glad I left London before the rush.

Good luck on the drive home, at that distance it must be something you'd trust*. So not French? ;-)

Yes not French, and it has 203,000 on the clock and is in regular use apparently, so I'm hoping it'll get me home at least.

I said never again after the last one, but what the hell. It's a cheap, tired but roadworthy XJ40. Let's see if it gets me home.

What a coincidence, my father was in Luton this evening looking at another Omega.

Well done with the JX40. As has been said already, if it had done that many miles it hopefully should be a good one.

Have you broken down yet?

Nope. But a buzzin' thing is driving me insane. Stopped at M25 services for a respite. Fuse 1 fail might be the cause. Or the seat belt warning thing. Either way SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Posted

Excellent! Is there a cut out in the drivers seat for your massive bollocks?

That looks ace.

Made it home, so that's a result in my book.

Faults are legion, but atleast it's a runner (for now). Plan is to literally just run it for a few months and sell on, as I have zero budget for any repairs. Just had to do the XJ40 thing before all the cheap ones disappear.

The issue that bothers me most is the ride. It's hopeless. No doubt a combination of tired bushes and possibly knackered front shocks. If I had moobs they'd be jiggling all over the place! But the interior is a nice place to be, much more so than the X300 Sport I had before as this one has WOOD, where the other didn't.

It certainly is a lovely looking thing. Colour and wheel combo did for me when browsing eBay...

Two spoke steering wheel win. Much better than the gopping airbag effort.

Fist sized hole in the boot floor. Needs welding/wobbing.

Oh it's beautiful.

I need one of these with the back boxes cut out for some roar.

What the hole in the floor is for.

The double standards on here is breathtaking. Our vectra is considered a liability but every cheap/ fucked XJ40 on earth is picked up by somebody on here.

Which is excellent. The harsh ride can be passed off as sports suspension to the next owner.

Cheap jaaaags are for winners, etc. etc.

Beautiful colour combo - Grey, Grey and more Grey. makes it look way younger than it is

Would recommend selling it on before you spend 3 times its value on repairs, I wish I could take my own advice  :?

Same colour combo as my first one. Noice.

Seems that you didn't need them thankfully.

I have had a few tense moments when collecting chod also!

Why have I come out in a sweat? It isn't even mine!

Ride should be superb, so somethings not right. Wonder if it still has the self-levelling gubbins? Don't they have spheres as part of that?

I would not want to play poker with you, when you said no more old Jags I believed you!

Anyway I hope you finally get to enjoy this one.
