I really liked the one I had. It was great, in a plasticky 90's Alfa sort of way!

They're actually quite nice, and pretty practical. Mine was a Cloverleaf 2.0 T Spark, so went well and was a decent spec, although I reckon an early flat four would beat it in the addictive noise stakes. Mine was reliable, not rusty, and everything worked, so the "typical" Alfa traits don't apply. Twin spark timing belts are a bit of a bugger, but I have the special timing tools here you can borrow, if you feel like changing it.  Also have a decent S/H pair of front shocks you can have if you can get them collected.

TL:DR Top buying. I'll give you £100 for it next month!

Im a financial mess and probably mentally ill to some degree. You bunch of enabling BASTARDS.

Make sure you change the timing belts and keep an eye on the oil; they like a drink.

I had one. It was great. It broke a lot, everything was expensive.

Twin sparks have eight spark plugs (who'd have guessed it eh) and they were about £15 a pop. Variatiors fail and make it sound like a diesel.

On the Cloverleaf, there's a big twisty pipe for the resonator, you can buy a replacement pipe which if fitted makes it sound a lot more race car.

It's an Alfa, so it will naturally turn you into an Italian.

When it grinds to a halt on the hard shoulder in a cloud of steam for the umpteenth time,

and you stomp around it swearing and waving your arms, you have turned into an Italian.

I once went to the Ring with a group of Alfaisti and they all broke down with some random malady.

That's Italian chaos!

I did the same thing with a group of BMWers and they all broke down with OMGHGF.

That's German precision!

Thisnis a lowly Junior. You can find it under finished items on ebay if you feel like being Jessica Fletcher for the evening.

Highlights include new tyres, full history, new water pump, new timing belt. Best off all, giffer owned by a gent that is SURE TO BE TRUE ENTHUSIAST.

4 and 11 when it happens.

Roffling is indeed the plan down the line, I cant afford to keep it long term. Ive never had an Alfa and just couldnt resist a three door estate. Such Pauline Quirky.

Racing cloth and wood. How Itallian.

Possible answers include 'suspiciously', 'dubiously' and 'unfeasibly'.

Stepson had a 146ti in Poganini Rose, which i spent A WHOLE FUCKING WEEKEND with G4 on.

Went like stink - in comparision to his Rover 218SD - and made a nice noise.

kept for 6 months, had a service, new fluids, all good.

Flogged to my mate Chubby, and the gearbox shat itself on the M6.

Well bought.

APPEALING.

Obviously the 'shite winner' would be an early 1.6 flat-4 or LHD diesel but this looks mega.

I was telling WW that a mate of mine has a Cloverleaf, rotting away amd turning pink on his drive. He has fond memories of it.

Yours looks the business!

No.s 1-59 when you're done please.

I like a nice Alfa. Haven't had one yet so this would make a change.

Can't recall speaking to someone who owned a 147 who didn't love it. They do rust like something that rusts a very lot though.

Posted

The Alfaab (my 147) is a cracking piece of kit, if a little worn in all the suspension places but rot? Tatty but not rotten.

Love it though. (And I loved my 164, 75, 33 and, very briefly, Duetto).

This is absolutely class. Any purchase of yours is made all the more exciting by the inevitable imminent roffle.

I defo, defo want some numbers for this.

Posted

2 randoms please.

You continue to have exceptional taste in bottom-of-the-barrel chod.

Posted

Remember when they came out, kind of pulled my face at them TBH, didn't like them much, probably muttered something predictable & hideously cliched like 'Not a proper Alfa' as I had my 1.7 'Sud Sprint at the time.

Now, having not seen one for an age, I find I do like the look of them and it's on my list 'To be considered' future buys.

Posted

The flat four versions were/are absolutely awful. Later ones with the twin spark aren't too bad.

Collection booked for Sunday. Spoke to the seller (at length!) Hes seems like a lovely old bloke. Hes gone from a collection of Mazzeratis to a collection of "pampered £400 bangers". He says "I was rich when I was 40 but I've spent the lot on cars and two wives. My only regret is the wives."

He doesnt seem to know what the internet is or I would demand that he join up and share some rambling stories about old chod hunting.

Updates will fall when the wheels get in motion.

Unless it's an absolute dog you won't regret it. I had a 2.0 TS in giallo fly, that's the very bright yellow. Every time I got out I had to look back at it and admire it's looks.

A proper Italian driving experience, dodgy seating position, electrics and build quality just added to the charm*.

Liked to be thrashed mercilessly everywhere.

I'm trying to go cold turkey on roffles but if this comes up I'll be cooking up and bending a spoon for it.
