Field of Dreams - Camping weekend 8/9/10 September - Mrs 6C has been preparing home made cider @ 7.3% for the campers/non drivers!

I would be more than happy to open the Field of Dreams up to Autoshiters again this year.

Last year after Shitefest 16 we had 2 further open days and these were very enjoyable and I realized that traveling to rally fields when I have my own is not always necessary and all I need is some friends to join me.

From just somewhere to camp with your family - small gathering working on mine or your own stuff - larger group with maybe a visit off site such as the excellent idea David Fowler came up with of Bletchley Park just 15 minutes away, is all fine with me.

The only issues are toilets, a few blokes using the hedge on a day visit is fine, we have a caravan toilet we can set up for a few guests, but larger camping groups will need to hire a plastic box.

My free dates at the moment are:

24/25 June

1/2 July

8/9 July

12/13 Aug

19/20 Aug

9/10 Sep

23/24 Sep

7/8 Oct

14/15 Oct

21/22 Oct

28/29 Oct

Pick some dates it does not have to be limited to just one date.

If Mr DW or anybody else was to organize there own version of a gathering using our field that would be fine.

I'm up for this, any of the dates suit just so long as I have a bit of notice, so I will go with the masses.

I might even get the Solara to this one!

Posted

I'd be up for it too. Out of those any date except first or possibly second weekend in July, because of a wedding and a possible AS meetup in the Lakes.

When does the field get cleared Mr Six Pot? After that seems wisest.

We are not sure who is having the hay this year yet, but last year the farm did not take it until early September.

Posted

I'll pop on up again if this goes ahead - I know where I'm going after all!

Not got much to work on really, though the Yaris could do with a coolant change at some point.

Posted

Always up for another field of dreams gathering. Will check those dates but it's not exactly far away so we should be able to make it if we're free.

Posted

I'm up for it, but as others above I'm so local that if I'm free I'm free, and may not sleep unless enough people camp to make it fun!

I'm happy to come up for a day ( or two) but won't dictate dates. July is ok for me. And August fine apart from GS rally at the start of the month.

19th / 20th August is likely* to coincide with the back end of the Anglo-Cambrian 3-litre Calibra lickers' return from a high-speed European road trip of unrestricted Autobahn sections, interesting WW2 locations and rude place names, so there's a good likelihood that we'll be passing Southernshire on our way home. Probably on ADAC / AA trucks.

To be honest, my summer is looking pretty crowded, so later in the year suits me better. Not that this should stop you having a gathering earlier, obviously!

I might be able to nip down during a weekend in July, just to see what a shitters event is like. Where exactly would it be?

Exact location is a closely guarded secret, but Buckingham is pretty close.

You need to go to the Esso in Thame, where you shall be blindfolded, put into the back of an Ldv pilot then driven there in secret, then the same on the way home.

Its less than 5 miles from Buckingham for Google maps use!

need to make it to one of these.

Dependent on work schedule, I'm up for this. Time to put faces to names.

Nothing says "Im going for a big poo, now!" like a chap hovering around a plastic box with a bog roll

Muddy SF16 coincided with Glasto I think, so all good porta-loos in England were there I guess. The one we had was a minger.

Whoever supplied the ones at the Welshfests did a very good job, they had the cleanest, least wretchworthy shit box I have ever experienced. Can you remember who they were, Ian?

Yes, a local firm - Abba Loos. Buckingham probably a bit far...

The Field of Dreams is a most excellent experience. I will try to make it, whatever date(s) it ends up being open.
