Great number plates - got any?

You've got me wondering now. I'm pretty sure I've never seen any, and I'm on the road every day. Come to think of it I've not seen any TN07s for a while.

That BBC News article is wrong about it being the only Scottish registration not to start with S, so the whole story could be bollocks. There were quite a few Tx registrations issued in 2007, my van is a TF07 for example.

Once saw a Passat with S70LEN

That plate lives on a BMW X5 near me now. Always gives me a smile

Strange, I've just queried that number on the RAC and DVLA and it throws up nothing. I was thinking S70LEN might be on a rention or something. Maybe the plate you saw is spelt differently? Something like STO13N? Maybe you could snap a pic.

I saw this Clio 1.2 Dynamique today outside a Renault garage, I was expecting it to be a fake plate but it is it's proper one according to the DVLA site.

The 10 plates have been a gift for new Clio owners... CL10 CUP, CL10 KUP, CL10 WOW, CL10 LOL, CL10 OMG all knocking about on Clios.

Just realised that one of my neighbours has a couple of belters.

ET8 on a Lexus,

SET8 on a Jag.

ET is a local Doncaster plate aswell. Not the greatest house on the greatest street, but he's a nice bloke, not a tuppeny milionaire. He likes my Scorpio, and wanted a go in my S-Class too! Also wanted to borrow my Land Rover in trhe snow recently. ( I was at work though)

Maybe, his name is Eugene I think, but the relevance is that they are locally issued I reckon. Too many end up out of area, so these are kept local. Local numberplates for local people!

I imagine some SN07 plates must have been first issued, to then be "withdrawn" as they apparently were. But to recall all the issued ones would be major suckage for the DVLA so they just stopped issuing them and those that had already been out there, stay... just in small numbers.

That's my figuring of it. Just as with '666' plates, they were issued for a time but then the DVLA stopped issuing them, however all plates that were out there remained out there (and now everything must be okay with the Devil and such cause you can buy them as a personal plate)

Anyway rambling aside I just stopped by to show you this from another website:

Saw a beauty today, on a black one of those enormous Japanese pick-ups:

B 19 TOG. Spaced to look like it read BIG TOG, the guy must have some serious balls (pun intended) to drive around boasting that!

Just uploaded an update for the spot thread but got a couple for here too.

Clever

But even so, still a bit wanky.

I don't think the owner of this one realises its meaning to the likes of us.

I love this one... judging from stickers in the windows, I think he's referring to his preferred form of transport, but I prefer to think of the more obvious alternative!

Oh and

INSULT on a Datsun Sunny Wagon,

PB4UGO = Pee Before You Go... :?

Binhoker may remember this: when I were a lad, a local millionaire's son had a new Honda Civic VTEC, with the reg J2 BAD. His insurance was £8000 about 18 years ago! Hondaman decided to race a Saff Cosworth running about 400 brake. Honda threw a rod, and the car was pushed back into the big carpark here. My mate saunters over, takes a look under the bonnet at the ruined engine: "Blew the engine, eh? That's J 2 BAD!"

Seen today in Cornwall a Chrysler Crossfire (driven by a pushy twat) with S400TEM

Spaced to look like SHOOT EM

GR8 4 RAOUL MOAT.

Posted

Considering it's a Crossfire too.

Made me think of a Golf I haven't seen for a while.

S400TER... Think he's a gun enthusiast. He even has dots on the plate to make it look like a 4 with dots on it.........

Posted

Call me what you like but things like s400tem and s400ter I would never have made shooter/m out of them if someone hadn't put up what they were supposed to be.

Surely if the plate is that obscure it is lost on those they are trying to impress :?

Hence my mention of the dots...................

I rest my case m'lud.

If it needs dots then why the f*** do it.

Just makes them look cheap and council - just my opinion.

There's been a Transit van next to the yard in Bathgate I've been working out, with the plate T16HTB on it, spaced to read 'tight b'. Kept me amused anyway.

There's a couple of Range Rovers around here, one is AN08 BON (A NOB ON) the other is D110 KYY (Spaced to look like DICKY Y)

I saw that yesterday on the M1 Southbound.

I also saw 'V16BRM', disappointingly on a big Audi (A8 I think). Apparently it used to be owned by Tom Wheatcroft, but he's dead now..
