Do these have different sized mirrors as well? The 190 was about the only Merc I really liked the look of but if the mirrors are odd sizes I'd need to burn it.

Of course they are.

All 190s were ‘Jeremy Beadle’ (RiP)

They did that on the W124 too. And Mazda copied it on the Xedos 6.

Surely that makes sense though as when you get nearer a mirror you can see more in the reflection, so having the furthest away mirror bigger will help counter that won't it?

Or did the design dept get inches and cm muddled up?

Is this cheating, thought so I have shared!

Me too,

Oh bugger.......

According to the press packs and publicity YouTube’s, they’re perfectly proportioned to show you what you need from the driver’s seat. On the near side you need more visibility for Parking, whilst offside you need a wider view for overtakers.

Missed this somehow, until now....Very jealous of the solid roof.

The sunroof is the one toy I wish had been deleted by Owner One on my 1.8.   Its just started to play up....

I did manage to find one with windy miller windows, though.   My 280SE was similarly specced.   I love basic Mercs, as said earlier you are buying all the engineering without the bollocks.

With the little Mercedes w202 heading to Scotland tomorrow, the Audi 80 project drawing to a close and my Avensis 'declared' at 220k - it's time to pay the Sierra a bit more attention.  I went mildly ape shit in the eBay 'January Sale' and bought quite a bit for it - which is now clogging up my conservatory.  (Nothing too shiny, so y'all can keep your undercrackers on).

There is a mystery coolant leak, so I've bought all the gates hoses I could find and a water pump.  The expansion bottle cap has already been replaced, so hopefully these items will cure the ill. It leaks when parked - so hopefully nothing too nasty.  I also need to get the other side polished so it's all the same colour.  Eyes are open for a driver's door which is getting quite ripe now at the bottom and the rear bumper still pisses me off. (Your opinion may vary)

It's such a shame that the front number plate got lost a few years ago.  Fortunately, I've found someone who can replicate it from this fantastic picture on Flickr.  I'd much rather have a new plate with the correct font than a 2 year old plate with the modern font, so I'll get this sorted soon enough.

And no, not DMB plates.  They've changed their rules recently - and you have to send original documents off.  No thanks.

Personally, I would have the front plate done to match the original rear one as it is the nicer and more period correct “curvier” font.

Posted

Try "fancy plates" go to show plates and "pre 2001font 3" that gives you the curvier font that looks good although I'm not 100% on the "5" that that produces. #needstogetoutmore

Ps no need for documents but no BS145 kite marking but there's loads of cars knocking about without it and they all fly through the mot

They look well. I need a set for the XM, the front plate isn't great.

Haven't seen this picked up yet, but about half an hour ago the bloke who sits next to me told me to check out a readers car thread on PH about a boggo ford sierra. Didn't really think, found it and at the first picture realised what it was!

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1717323&i=0

Shamelessley put the 2 videos I took of it at SF16 in there too, and because their nice!

Yes. I decided it was time for a wider audience with the Sierra, in a bid to motivate me to write more and fix more. There’s a fierce reverse snobbery on here about Pistonheads but, as you can see for yourself, the car has been very warmly received indeed.

On the subject of the Sierra, I have a pile of bits that I ordered at Christmas that need attaching to said conveyance. In completely coincidental and not at all related news, I met up with eminent mechanic Alf892 at lunch who offered to get stuck in.

How remarkably fortuitous.

There's a lot of 'considerably richer than yow' types in the news or law bits, but in the further corners of PH there are eccentrics and just plain car folk, much like there are here.

Trouble with PH is there's so many knobs on there it looks like an asparagus patch.  As a result I tend to only be able to find about three threads a year worth reading so generally don't bother.

Can everyone please not tell Cosworth fans/ Barry boys about this? It’s 0.6 miles from my friend’s house, in a town where I used to live and love myself.

I would dearly, dearly love it. But it makes no sense at all.

Someone? Anyone??

It was imported from Malta a few years back it says somewhere in the advert.

Re: front plate. Can you still do the V888 check to find out the original selling dealer?

Would probably look good with a set of Gammers of Stowmarket plates & dealer sticker on that Sierra

Price is a bit crackers, isn't it? Like, by a factor of about ten.

Buy it.

Buy it, its nice to see a 1.3 sierra pop up for sale

Oh nice! You can always count on friends eh?

Problem is the same problem I had last time I owned two MK1 Sierras; Y tho! At least last time one was green!

I reckon the price is probably about right. I don’t like it, bit recent prices indicate it’s about correct. It certainly isn’t a sub £2k example nowadays.
