For fuck's sakes.

What was wrong with MAPS?

Charles Babbage: Look, I have invented the Difference Engine, a mechanical brain!

The Victorian public: Can it be used to inch along the M1, virtually?

Charles Babbage: No.

The Victorian public: Balls to that.

That's is a Yulon YLN-303, basically a Taiwanese built Datsun Sunny B310, although with a few differences. They made them into the early 90's I think.

Looks like the whole of the uk is now live!!

My house is now on there :? I sold my ST last April so it shows you how up to date it is.

Mine too! Picture at least twelve months old though.

Blimey ever our hovel is on there! Pic from last summer by the looks and a minimal amount of shite on display outside. Place looks quite tidy surprisingly...

Must have been a bit later getting to our place. Pic would be some time between may & september as my van has still got the old signwriting on it...

Posted

This was last spring. You can just about see our Saab 900, Renault Espace and my son's old red Fiesta.

We actually saw the camera car drive past and thought we'd be in view somewhere. Sadly not it seems!

Posted Image

Posted

Can't see anything at our house and even my folks must have been out when the cameraspycar went past! You can see our tractor unit and low loader at the farm though.

Posted

Here's my place, a space on the drive so I was obviously out. I wonder when it was as I might be able to find my car parked somewhere in town!

Must have been early last summer, still some daffodils out and I only have the lightweight cover on the Escort.

I like how that old Ford Scorpio I see round here is parked opposite my flat on google streetview. I reckon they were taken in summer round here as well, seeing as its sunny and everyone is in shorts.

I'm FAMOUS!!!!!eleven

That's me, that is. I spotted the car coming out of work and followed it for a bit. YAY!

Posted

Stoke has recently been added so I thought id try to spot some of my own shite...

Tadaa!

Strangely, when I try to view my Audi from the other side of those railings it mysteriously dissapears.

Leicestershire went live today if any of the locals want to look.

I'm not exactly against google earth, but I am I the only one who finds it a bit odd? Can't quite put my finger on why, just find it slightly unnerving!

Posted

Its just another ploy from the government so they can see whats goin on outside your house i reckon....I am however mightily dissapointed none of my cars are anywhere......

Two of mine were "caught" in the drive. The VDP 1300 and the Kestrel. Was while the rear subdrames were being repaired.

More likely another ploy from a greedy American company to invade your privacy so they can sell your information to anyone who wants to buy it to in turn make even more money out of you.

All you can tell from our pic is that our lawn is very tidy. So like Wikipedia, Streetview doesn't necessarily contain the truth (excellent timing on their part, it usually looks wilder than Don King's hair).

My old Rangie Turbo is up the path on my bit of it, so it could be any time from 2007 to last year. Judging by the weather, probably the late summer, from the number of cars parked nearby, it'll have been taken around 3pm.

Posted

They've stopped just short of my house, but I've tried all my usual haunts and I'm alarmed to find no evidence of my cars anywhere. I've been in all the off-licence car parks and everything.

Business Uses

Top 10 Street View Tips for businesses and organisations

Evaluate locations for marketing campaigns, film shoots, product launches or other public events.

If you’re an agent or property developer, use the Street View API to show prospective buyers or tenants available properties.

Architects and local councils can get a feel for the style of particular areas, to help with planning, design or preserving heritage.

No doubt property developers, councils etc will be taking a close look at areas to see what they think they can get away with, and double glazing salesmen will hardly be able to tear themselves away from the screen. Not sinister in the way of government surveillance but still not accountable in any way. Perhaps that also answers RedSparrows point?

Here is my dads garage.

Posted Image

Summer 2008 I recon. TR7 laid up and my dads 2 Alfa GTV juniors under wraps. Plus one of the lads who works for hims VW Polo round the side.

Wow they've even covered super-obscure places in my area.

Crop the satellite dishes and it could be 1975.

Posted

They haven't got round to my area yet. I can only assume that they weren't driving quickly enough through a local estate to avoid having either the camera or the wheels nicked.

Here is me in my Saab. Never realised I was driving around in a cut and shut though. Looks obvious from this angle.

Reckon they took this in the Spring - I remember seeing the google car.
