JohnK's successful fleet reduction - It's Senator Day!

So, as we all know, I've desperately been trying to reduce my fleet of late. Due to a distinct lack of interest and time lately I made the decision to chop a few motors about and get down to a more manageable level of cars.

It's a well known fact that the successs* of this was displayed by the purchase of a MK4 Cortina ( see here -http://autoshite.com/topic/23739-cortina-gl-now-home-with-bits-missing/ ) and the subsequent retention of the little Triumph Toledo which was removed from sale as quickly as it was put up.

Sod's law, I've a week off work and I'm waiting on parts for one of my E23's and also the Cortina. Prime time to do work and I haven't got what I need to make progress. Aside from some wiring gremlins I need to resolve on my Transit Beavertail and a couple of minor jobs I can get on with on the Cortina, it's going to be a quiet week.

Bank Holiday Monday's are for spending with the family allegedly. However Mrs JohnK is still in bed and I've nicked her car for a 'brief' run out ...

In the midst of sorting out this collection, as seen on the News 24 thread, I was greeted with this when I woke up -

Conclusion - when you feel bogged down about cars and have zero motivation for them, go and buy a few more (but don't tell the missus - I've only popped out for a bit this morning).

You don't have a problem.  You can stop any time you like.

I know this feeling so well words say one thing, actions do another.

And you have left us a small clue it's Vauxhall.

Good work with the fleet reduction! Wonder what you bagged for 375?

Edit- good detective work mr s

The collection later this week will be Vauxhall shaped - today's not so ;)

You never got that for £375 did you? Jesus wept, what a bargain.

*Edit: I'm assuming it's the Senator?

It needs a bloody good clean and a minor fettle, but for 375 I'm no going to complain.

Edit - the Senny isn't today's collection though.

I just cheated and looked up the seller's username!

Wild stab in the dark, because it's impossible to guess what you're going to spontaneously purchase next: Mazda 323

No, he's coming over here to collect Hyacinth...

A rather wet York achieved.

I'm choking for a cuppa. Change at Leeds so only another half hour.

I know I know! Planes*, trains and automobiles...

Just so I'm clear, in your fleet reduction programme you've bought the Senator for £375 and are also on your way to collect something else?

Ahh, good man, you're making me feel much better about my own sanity now.

White Senator = GR12 for parking on motorway bridges and watching everyone slam on the brakes.

Speciality tea level unlocked.

Leeds is duller than York, sausage butty went down well though.

I always find that once you decide to thin out the amount of chod then more simply fall in your lap.

I love Senators, great for a bit of arse out action! Is it the 24v model on that age?. £375 makes my newest arrival look expensive!

It's a lowly 2.5 Trig, so 12v. That's very much part of the appeal though!

I still have nightmares about 2.5 Senators.

Late at night many years ago I was on a deserted 2 lane motorway ,making progress in a 2.5 auto Senator. Came up behind an e32 735 ,outside lane hogging, I gave a flash of full beam, nothing, another flash and I got brake tested.

Inside lane it was then...... He accelerated, I gradually gained speed until max 2.5 velocity achieved. The 735 pulls into inside lane and slows slightly, I pull out to go past - you can guess what happened then, yes he matches my speed, even when I slowed right down.

I was getting so mad, that I was beginning to work out plausible stories for the Old Bill and insurance claim form and how best to hit the 7 so it spun, but not into me.

Luckily I came to my senses and slowed right down to about 30 and let him go, this was a major achievement for me at 25, I can tell you.

I refused ever to drive that Senator again and hoped I'd see that 7 when I was driving a 24v to restore Griffin honour.

There is lovely one owner G reg Senny 2.5 local to me on the original JESSOPS Vauxhall dealer plates. (I believe A.Dicky has spoken to the owner)

I often pass the bungalow where it lives hoping to see £500 in the front screen.

The Owd Giffer had a Carlton with the 12v 2.6 leading a Getrag 5-speed manual.  That SHIFTED.

Top bombing, sir.

You absolute fucking legend for buying that white Senator.

Seriously man.

Please raffle it. PLEASE.

I'd win it for my SnrYoof, who still mourns the loss of his dark blue 24v Senator which was written off by a moron on a roundabout around these ways.

I know presenting a 2.5 12v to someone who's had the 3.0 24v is like offering an ex-F1 driver a seat in the local banger-racing series, but it's the thought that counts, right?
