Nice interaction with our local Kiltox today (supermarket delivery driver)

Woman about 30ish.

'is that your Mondeo?'

'errr, yep'

'my parents had the same type, same swirly wheel trims'

'yeah, it's 30 years old now, I try and look after it'

'do you use it?'

'as much as I can'

'keep it forever!'

'ok, I'll try, bye!'

Nice moment.

My next door neighbour when i was growing up had a corsa with the reg plate of K155JTO. I have no idea why I have remembered that for nearly 30 years

Went to the tip, such good tip cars, and a little drive along the front, then came home cos it's too hot.

Weren't you considering moving this on a bit back. Don't do that.

It's one of those cars that everybody likes but nobody seems to want it enough. It'll just end up in the wrong hands and ultimately barried, as I'm sure you've well and truly established by now, the age old cliche, you'd never find another one like it!

Saw these two on a Facebook group post... neither have MOTs, but are both SORN and still extant. Known to you, @egg?

Thanks @Soundwave, yes GHK is the 4th oldest known survivor, it's in Kent, owner has tried to sell before, but it remains in that yard dormant AFAIK.

ENH is a new one though! 1.8 LX registered 17/5/93. Great!

There's a lot going on there. Marina, R8 and Land Rover scattered about the place and if I'm not mistaken a set of MG ZT alloys in one shot too. Also it's in Southampton with a Southampton reg so it's probably been local all it's life.

I had one identical to that. Glorious cars. This seems realistically priced too. I can never understand the £1500 pricing. There just isn’t the demand the non ST versions

Definitely some interesting stuff visible, also a Peugeot 309 or maybe 405 in the second pic

Are they really still that cheap nowadays? You'd struggle to get any Sierra with an MOT for that money in 2023. It's strange that a Mk3 Cavalier fetches more money.

The mid '90s evolution of repmobiles really were a quantum leap in both directions. The Mondeo really was a massive step forward from the Sierra. The Vectra B was worse than the Mk3 Cavalier. The Xantia was a lot more than an evolution of the BX. The 406 was the car that the 405 should've been. The Primera was leagues ahead of the Bluebird. Probably the biggest advancement was the Rover 600 compared to the Montego.

If it’s got an MOT and it isn’t infirm enough to collapse imminently as in the next 3 months then it’s worth at the very very least a £1,000. They must be insane selling it at £600 to be honest, that’s just above weighing it in money plus the absolute phalluses they’ll have coming round will be a nightmare.
