I walk passed one most days and I thought it said Exed until I tried to google it now.

You know some retail chains move stock between locations and subsidiaries based on best before dates? This is what VAG did with these.

 

"Yes, Sir, they're still perfectly usable, it's just the gearknobs are going a bit cheesy."

This was mine. Just a Fiesta with a different badge. Grill was a bit different.

Yep - more black plastic trim on the corners. I was well aware of these, it's just I'd never seen one later than V-plate in that shape. What I didn't know is that there was also a facelift version with the different lights. I've only ever seen one.

I believe it has something to do with import quotas. Only so many cars built in Japan can be sold in EU countries, so instead of building an entire factory in Scunthorpe you just slap your badge on a car that is already built here.

Or I could be talking out of my arse as usual.
