I read your title as "quality, reliability and resentment". 

I was thoroughly impressed with the disco when I had it. People joke about 4x4 drivers in cities doing school runs but this is the only thing I've seen which can handle Glasgow's roads. Would've been handy through all of the flooded B roads I went through yesterday too.

Hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I did.

I should add that I threw this in for test last year prior to selling it to @sdkrcand it only bloody passed! I nearly passed out!

Gave the gearbox a fluid and filter change which improved it somewhat at the time, however, a couple of years ago it had some dodgy wiring or corrosion around the multiplug on top of the gearbox (accessed from under the NSF) that was causing gear selection issues. Wonder if that or the errant three amigos aren’t helping here.

I've actually done something.

Firstly the Discovery would let in a bit of water through a gap at the top of the rear door. I adjusted it and didn't have to wait long for rain to test it.

Passed that test.

Next was Meg's 107 needing a service. Parts ordered and collected.

Dropped the oil with ease.

This was so much easier than jacking stuff up and getting oil all over my arm.

Next up was a bit of preservation time. I cleaned up the rust underneath and painted on some zinc rich paint.

Then I got the can of stone guard.

Gave the rest a quick look over and next on the list will be discs and pads up front.

That should hopefully keep it going for a while.

I've plodded along with a bit of stuff getting done.

Next up was the C1 getting a quick service. Nothing special and everything looked ok so that was done.

Next was the slk. It went here:

It came away with the necessary paperwork and a small list of things to look over. That will happen at some point.

I've gone part time at work and the company van is going back so I'm now relying on the slk or the Discovery for a 67 mile round trip. Wish me luck as the front right caliper on the Discovery became sticky and smelled unpleasant today, hopefully its self healing properties demonstrated this morning carry on.

I had sticky calipers on the Rangey and was pleasantly surprised how cheap new ones were. It's almost like an industry has grown up around keeping these wonderful* cars on the road

I had to put new rears on my old Disco as well, the calipers are so cheap on them from the likes of Paddocks they aren't really worth arsing about with freeing off etc.

But I couldn't get it loose and no motor factors nearby had the correct tool so I had to improvise

A trusty old rubber mat gave up its life for this but it worked!

Next up @stereotype's 205.

This was solved by @DodgyBastard when he broke a 5 door 205 and I swapped an alloy wheel for the window.

That was a lot of months ago but today I fitted it and it wasn't* difficult and I didn't* use all the swear words at all! At least now it does this.

I managed to get the whole engine from that breaker in in that time!

Yet it's still not seen the road...

It's so nice seeing the SLK get some attention. Missing it - surgery coming up and I'm thinking how I can't drive either BMW or MX-5 if that recovery takes ages!

I have a set of special cups for removing those filters. It used to get oil changes (about every 2,000 miles) with pela pump and filter, no lifting - undertray removal will have been spraying waxoil and maybe steering damper replacement.

So I've already given this a quick once over:

Rear lower engine mount which needs replaced was also making contact with the rest of the car and causing most of the horrific vibration, I've 'adjusted' it for now.

Both lower arms look new but the discs are worn and heat affected.

Boot floor is gone at both sides, driver's side is worse

Plan of action is order discs and get them sorted. While in there check over the front end properly.

So the new* 205 needs some bits doing to it. 

I have to thank @Supernaut for the stuff he has already done, saves me a job or five.

Most important bit needing done was the brakes so I dug these out of the cupboard

Progress already and I think I've got my priorities right.

Next the actual brakes. Discs were ordered and there were pads in the boot. Pads actually look ok.

Everything was stripped and cleaned, all disc retaining screws were snapped off and I contemplated drilling them out for about 5 seconds, then carried on regardless.

Brakes are a lot better already, next time I shall have a look over the rears and adjust them up.

Bottom mount replaced on the 205.

Then some preservation happened. The rubberised coating had blown in a few places, this was pulled off and wire brushed before the red lead paint.

This was straightened as it was rubbing on the water pipe.

Then I finished wiring the lift properly. Now when you press down it goes down and when you press up it goes up, it didn't do anything with the up button before as the safety cut out was out.

The rubbish video didn't upload for some reason
