Sadly Jimmy Tarbuck (COM 1C Mercedes Benz) appears not to be paying attention to routine servicing...2010 stop light fails, leaking fuel cap2011 oil leak2013 anti-roll bar joint dust cover torn, wiper ineffective and a warning for nail in tyre2014 warning for worn tyrePerhaps he's too busy on the club circuit.

I can imagine Jimmy sitting awkwardly in a brown armchair on a grey afternoon in a large living room. The only light is from a 42" LCD in the corner of the room, which is currently covering the Operation Yewtree news report. He is startled when the door suddenly bursts open - it is his wife. She stares at her husband for a moment, before asking angrily, "when are you going to swap that new tyre on the car, I was pulled over by the police again!"

Jimmy, numb with anxiety, absorbs the criticism, before it finally builds up into a crescendo of rage and angst. He swiftly lunges at his wife, belieing his large frame and advancing arthritis, firmly clasping his shaking hands around her neck, his eyes bulging and bloodshot. "Fuck off with you and that fucking tyre!" he screams long and loud before turning round to face the television. He clumsily attempts to kick a porcelain figurine on the coffee table, but misses, his tartan slipper dislodged from his foot, spinning through the air before hitting the magnolia painted back wall, with a resounding sharp 'slap' from the rubber sole.

His wife promptly leaves to stay with Liza. The new tyre still sits leaning against the wall in the bottom shed.

Tell you what, it updates quickly - Pug of many miles was reticketed at 1600 today, already on the history checker!

It's good because when I'm looking for a car I can discount the shite that's had endless warnings year after year about oil leaks and rusty brake pipes. Probably tells you all you need to know about what the owners were prepared to spend.

All mine though I've looked up have failed spectacularly after I've sold them, confirming that as I suspected, that when I've finished with cars they are absolutely rinsed.

Curiously my dads old Megane is still trucking. Oddly enough it's only just turned 90k, which was strange given he sold it in 2005 with 102k...

Station, that was fucking brilliant. That tyre's probably still sat there and it blocks the door from opening every time he gets in and out, much cursing ensues.

I found that one of my old company cars managed to shed 103,000 miles in the space of three months, having had two MOTs, the second of these being its last.

He intends to fit it after his 3 days booking at Pontins in Prestatyn. At least that's what he told Pauline after she came back from Liza's.

This is brilliant! Hours of fun definitely.

How long will it be until we find a car that's had a bit of a haircut?

Something for the auction boys to follow on their games too perhaps.....

It certainly adds a whole new element to the bidding, as that site works fine on mobile. Auction prices are going to plummet when you know exactly what's about to fall off.

I've just checked some of my old motors, if this site had been around before I bought them I wouldn't have bothered.....

Thanks for the link. Lots of fun looking up my old cars!

The cx DTR hasn't been motd for two years and had many many advisories for rust and hanging wires and fuel leaks before this- check d708rtu Citroen if you like a laugh. I sold it in 2006 for £500 and a week's honest mot.

Merc is no surprise- mostly imminent warnings of excessive oil leaks and brake pipes ( done before I bought it in copper/nickel). 2cv hasn't failed an mot since 1997 and never has advisories so no news there. Fiat has never had a fail nor an advisory- must be a record surely!

C5 is interesting- no advisories or fail since I bought it in 2006, but no mot for 18 months now.

My auto laguna lasted a couple of years after I sold it.

A pound to a pinch of shit the box grenaded.

How good would it be to bump into him and ask if he's fitted that tyre yet from his MOT last year, the fucker would be absolutely baffled. Only on autoshite would someone check Jimmy Tarbuck and Debbie Mgee's old MOT's, this place is fuckin brilliant  :-D  :-D

Lord Sugar, oh business god. If your Roller Ghost has done only 7792 miles in its first three years, how much profit has that cost you per mile?

This site has more entertainment potential than I thought.

GR8 find.

Most of my parents', mine and siblings cars lasted well past the 100k point which isn't bad innings. My Dad's Rover 400 lasted to 150. I think rot will have killed most of them, though my Nissan's gearbox was very poorly at 80k - it lasted another 30 after that.

Poor 25 only lasted to 18k, though I know what happened to that.

Oddly my Rover 75 doesn't show up, though it often doesn't on the tax check site either - maybe on a private plate nowadays?

Both Pandas are still on the road, even though one was written off a couple of years back. The extra hateful one has managed 12k since I got rid - I wonder how many breakdowns the poor new owner has endured.

Strangely one of my mate's Fiats doesn't show up either and hasn't for years on the tax check site. Was either scrapped very young or exported or something.

Just realised it's not a year since I got rid of the Panda so the hateful 12 thousand miles will have mostly been mine!

Ive just had hours of fun with this! Best was my ex girlfriends KA. Sold by her in 2005 at 5 years old on a W plate, advisory for corroded floors the following year but it soldiered on until 2014 having each of the 4 prescribed suspension mounting points welded 3 years in a row! That really was nursed along!

Posted

Flippin eck' the MK4 Golf Turbo I used for commuting purposes a few years ago was on 155k when I sold it in early 2013, now its showing 204k !!

Posted

I'm impressed NV08WSY has done another 70k+ In the three years since I hydraulically locked it in flood water in 2012. I honestly expected it to be a cab (16V diesel auto estate) in its next life. It was a £26k Vectra in 2008! And 7k in 2011 :)

My old Fiesta died earlier this year but was stunned to see it failed pretty much every MOT since 2009, usually on suspension wishbones and bulbs. Alarmingly regularly in the case of suspension wishbones.

It's quite a handy site if you are thinking of buying a particular type of car - get a few reg plates off the bay for similar models and see if there are any consistent fails. If every Focus fails on rear brake hoses as an example, that's a pretty good place to start looking when buying one.

My old Picanto is still going though, only seems to have had one failure on a number plate bulb and the odd brake pad advisory. They seem to make reasonable little ten year old cars those Picantos

What are they like to drive? I looked at them a few months ago but the 0-60 put me off.

The SD1 I nearly bought but walked away from in May 2014 has passed its last two tests without any advisories..

Quite a few mistakes coming out on this database with regards to car colour and mileage. Posted it up on some car Facebook pages and some are saying its a fake. Clearly they are the ones who are annoyed that their supposedly mint car is a death trap!

I sold the Fiesta we had, when I sold it it had holes in the kick panel beneath the bulkhead, within 30cm of the rack but there's no indication of this on the fail, it was like a sieve underneath. Yet it died due to several minor things like the lights being out of kilter. I imagine the tester had a look at the inner sills and the floors and just ended the test there and then told him it was a pile of shit.

Hey, this is good fun this.

Highlights from my search so far. W107DAC - a W reg A6 TDI bought for £1000 between five of us for a driving holiday to Serbia. It was on 160k when we got it in 2011. Still soldiering at 230k, doing 20k a year and advisories on CVs and consumables only. Wish I'd never sold it. Think it ran veg too.

The Scirocco on the other hand is a bit ropeyish. Since I bought it it's a litany of errors, but it had no MOT from 2006 to 2013, so that explains all it's tired bushes and pipes.

For some reason my car reg comes up as no details found or doesn't exist

I'm not concerned as it comes ok on insurance and pnc but would like to check history
