Car crap claim to fames

My old Sun-Tor spent several years as the transport of a Catholic priest on the isle of Guernsey.

Something about Roger the Choirboy etc etc. I can't poke too much fun though, I got my tent off a vicar on Freecycle after all my camping stuff was stolen out my Pop.

As mentioned on here, I bought Rusty Lees Jag for my brother....80's leg end

...and someone in the village here, owns her Lotus.

In other news, there was once a magazine called safer motoring and they featured an Audi 80GL that had done 130,000 miles and said that it was as good as one that had just covered 30,000. I borrowed that self, same car some time later when it had covered 400,000 miles and fuck me, you could feel every last one of them, it was royally fucked. But still allegedly on its original clutch.

I bought a Jag XJ6 some years ago as a spares car that allegedly belonged to Maggie.

My next door neighbour had a Jag that was owned by Lord "Fibber" Archer, at the height of his pomp. Perhaps they were issued as company cars?

I had a Porsche 924 that was once owned by an army sergeant.

I had an ex-army Can Am Bombardier dispatch riders bike - this was probably ridden by a sergeant as well.

I have just bought a Mondeo that belonged to Melvyn Bragg's gardener.

I once sold a car to a Steve Irwin tribute act, and another to someone whose job it was to collect and transport bull semen

A few years ago I saw a pink/purple Rolls Royce on the A65 with the following registration, spaced like this: "J 80WEN"

I had a mk3 Cavalier saloon (G28 XNC) that was originally owned by Phil Redmond or at least the production company that made Brookside and my actual car featured in many background shots apparently and it used to cut out at junctions every time Everton took a penalty!

Last part may or may not be true; no warranty given or implied, other outlandish, questionable claims are available.

This is the classiest celebrity connection I've seen in an ad.

"Was featured in most National newspapers when Amanda Holden got out showing her Spanx, at Birmingham X-Factor auditions" !

I bought a Saab off eBay and it turned out to belong to Michael Fish.

Turned up to collect and the man himself answered the door.

He hadn't said on his listing that the engine management light was on, nor that it hadn't been serviced in years.

The prick. He'd also stuck one of those Jesus fish on the boot lid.

My A35, during one of the times I didn't own it, allegedly appeared as backdrop scenery in an S4C programme filmed in Cardiff and on a similar note I was once flagged down whilst driving one of my old Morgans along Marine Parade in Penarth and asked if I would park it up for half an hour as backdrop whilst BBC were filming, I declined as I was on a work site visit at the time.

First car I ever drove, as regular readers will know by now, was a Cortina 1500 Super mk1 in Goodwood Green.  It was an unloved trade-in at McCain's.  Yes, that McCain.  It had been used for pacing the horses on the beach while they trained.  As it was in 1974, I think it's pretty safe to assume Red Rum was among them.

Nine years later I bought another of their scrappers, a 1969 Humber Sceptre.  Boot lined with straw again, it had been doing the same job.

Does anyone here NOT know the legend of my Cyprus Granada?

Too busy ignoring tornadoes to get it serviced?

My Rover was in a video for a 1940s 'girl band'.....all day filming. Never seemed to get released.

Could've been famous!

My mate bought a Jeep Cherokee from Bev Bevan, separated by only four previous owners.

Yeah.  Rock and roll.  Etc.

A mate of mine bought a Range Rover Autobiography direct from Roy Wood, he even let him drive around on the cherished RW number plate until the transfer went through.

My personal claim to fame is that the 1994 Camaro Z28 I bought myself for my 40th birthday was previously owned by Alex Lester, the graveyard shift Radio 2 DJ :) :)

My Saab 9-3 used to be owned by Billy Cavcraft. I know! Billy Fucking Cavcraft. Off of The Internet, and "Chester's Greenest Garage Doors" on Sky Living +1

I used to have a workshop next door to a car recovery /transport place in the early eighties . They had Bo Dereks Porsche 944 in ( well they said it was ),  so we all sniffed the seat.

Back in the seventies I nearly bought an MGA from the guitarist in Uriah Heep.

Also I did a bit of mini-cabbing in London during the three day week saga. Had some Celebs like Lulu, Russel Harty, The New Seekers in my Triumph 2000.

My current car will shortly be used in a kill crazy rampage that'll doubtless be headline news.

I had a '74 Buick Electra 225 that was used as a getaway car in a bank robbery in Berlin while I owned it.

Does that count?

My JU250 van had had an appearance on The Royal.  And I once bought an E23 7 series off Simon Goldsworthy from Practical Classics.  That's about as exciting as it gets.
