Carburettor rebuilds are not really my thing, there are far too precious little bits to lose…😄

Happy to bring along the BMC factory manual I have though - covers both the HS2 and HS4 SUs.

I noticed today the fuel has drained out of the filter by the carburettor.

This arrived today in a stack purchased on EBay:

Will bring it along on Saturday.

They like the Super! Visa. The CX buyers guide, published a mere 5 years after its debut over here, mentions ‘Early cars will be rusting in several places if they have not been looked after’ 😐. Not much better than the GS then.

I saw the new Fuego at the Oct 1980 Motor show and liked it so much Jan 1981 I tried to buy one. I wanted a 2.0 TX which did not have a luggage cover so I asked the dealer to throw one in, but they wouldn't so I didn't buy the car, saved me £1000s in depreciation not buying it!

Can you hear the fuel pump do its thing with the ignition on?  I think I needed to whack it with a rubber mallet and wiggle the wires on a few occasions.

Also, it might be worth topping up the dashpot before stripping the carb.  I never did figure out which of the above actions (temporarily) cured the misfire.  Probably the former.

This brings back memories from the 70s. I had to do that to the SU pump in my Morris 1000 several times to get back home from longish journeys before I got around to dismantling  it. The contacts had burned stopping it, and the valves were filthy, stopping them closing properly. Cleaned all components, problems gone !

I am now unlikely to be around, I've got a rental van for the weekend and I'm going to Kent with a couple of mates to retrieve a load of Datsun parts for their new purchases.

It’s looking like I may be free so I may come up on the Saturday and have a tinker with the Saab

As an additional incentive, there will be some free books and lots of magazines up for grabs!

Including a box of 1950s/60s Motorsport, a couple of big bags of 1990s Car, a few recent Practical Classics, some 1990s/00s Mercedes ones (the sort MB sent out to MB owners) and a some random motorcycle/cycling/aeroplane ones.

Will bring along my pressure washer.  Not needing a power supply and having a 30 metre hose to play with should hopefully make the lives of anyone wanting to do cleaning tasks a bit easier.

The question is how brave do I feel?  Do I attempt to bring the Rover...

That looks fun! I'll have my toy nilfisk mostly because it seems safer for blasting the mini carpet, I have my new short lance to play with (standard quick connect if your one is the same?) and the foam gun.

But up the top of the paddock to de-green stuff that's going to win 😂👌

Of course it starts raining as I think of getting dressed and getting the car packed 🙄

Should see it here - sheeting down and eight degrees. The new rear discs I have to fit can wait, I'm lighting the log burner....

Hopefully it stays quick and brief, and I could clean some of the mini stuff inside the barn 🤔
