I did not have much time this evening for working on cars, but did have a look through the Mini parts that came in the car. Just for fun I hung the grill on!

Today’s plan was to take the Rolls Royce to a Classic car breakfast meeting, however it was raining and cold. The Rolls has no heater or demister and the wiper only touches the screen when it feels like it. Plus the Rolls would have been filthy after the 30 mile trip so I took the Volvo 940. Only about 1/4 of the usual number of cars turned due to the weather.

Afterwards as it had stopped raining Colin suggested we did a bit of work on our cars at the FoD. He spent some time treating rust spots on his Mercedes 450 SLC and then jacked up my Mini to straighten the front valance. By 3pm we were frozen to the marrow in late April.

It’s a glamorous life for your friends. I do like the slc though - always the forgotten ugly sister.

nice dodge chrysler thing

A muscle car rarity, especially on these shores, a Chrysler 300L I believe. The Sunbeam Tiger is not often seen but the Alpine seems to be more of a rarity these days.

You planning on going to the meet down at Aspley Guise tomorrow?  I'm hoping to head over, and if you're going to be there I'll take the axle stands with me.

What's happening at at Aspley Guise?

Is it Milton Keynes Coachway to Best Western Moore Place Hotel? If so I am planning to join that.

Due to the weather forecast it will be Volvo 940 again for me.

I hope you are going to choke me with burning oil smoke!

I have not said much this week as I have been working daytime and in the evenings Colin has been round working on his Mercedes and my Mini. It has been pretty repetitive fill, rub down and paint for both of them. I hear you ask why are you worrieing to tidy the Mini when it is rotten! I am told for a Mini it is not that bad and next week Geoff an experienced Mini licker and friend of Colin is taking it for welding.

I have also located and bought the missing fuel fitting for the Royale that has taken me a month to trackdown and this evening fitted it in preparation to get it running at the weekend.

@Six-cylinder are there any makes of car you and @Mrs6C haven't owned at some point?

There are lots.

This is probably the most unusual car I have owned with another rarity we still have..

What's the Citroen?

Posted

It's an Axel - a rebadged Romanian Oltcit.  Vaguely Visa-like bodyshell (but 3-door instead of 5) with the air-cooled flat 4 engine from the GS..

The Citroen badge is a bit misleading as it is a Romanian Oltcit club. It was a Citroen design that was not used when PSA took control and a Romanian company manufactured it with Citroen input. Just for max confusion it was later marketed in Western Europe (not UK) as Citroen Axel.

I was asked to test a tyre pump this evening with a broken cigar lighter plug. It looked a lot more dramatic than it was!

Is that the Oltcit that ended up going to Dollywobbler?  I didn't realise it had been Citroenised.
