Unfortunately while my 504 is at home it is backed up to a wall with a load of stuff piled on it so measuring the hole spacing will be a major job.

Six-cylinder Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 There is a member on here who thinks the car I want back on the road most is my Carlton Estate! I did give it a run around our field today but the ABS light came on. Rust Collector, juular, Floatylight and 1 other 4
High Jetter Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Moi Aussi, wish I were closer to assist. Was the field wet?

Bloke I used to work with had two of these a Saloon and an estate, lovely cars. I also remember my Dad test driving one at Williams Vauxhall in either Shrewsbury or Market Drayton when the time came to end his run of Granada estates when the Mk3 came out, sadly his boss wouldn't go for it and he ended up with a Sierra. Would be lovely to see these back on the road. Six-cylinder and Shite Ron 2

Unfortunately it popped a heater hose off and I must of airlocked it refilling it as it overheated and blew the head gasket again. Shite Ron and Floatylight 2

mat_the_cat Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Sorry it's taken me so long to get round to uploading these, it's not been a great few weeks for us. Six-cylinder Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 Sunday Afternoon IT’S a GOOD NEWS update! Duncan from TSSC came round to help me this morning with my misfiring Rolls Royce. We opened up the Autovac (fuel pump worked by manifold vacuum) and it was clean. The gaskets looked quite old but no obvious sign of being breached. I had bought new cork gaskets so we fitted them. Next we changed the ignition coil, it had been fitted with a modernish Bosch one, nothing visible but I had a new NGK coil I had bought as a spare for my Jaguar E-Type so we fitted that. We then went on to clean and gap the spark plugs, not much to report except maybe a little black soot. We set off on a 6 mile test drive and 3 miles in we got caught in queuing traffic and cleared that to open road. It was still running well so we extended the test drive to 15 miles and all is well. To celebrate I had a root around in an old tool box to sort out a set of Whitworth spanners to leave in the car as it did not come with a tool kit. We have just been out for another drive and done another 20 miles trouble free. RayMK, AnthonyG, dome and 20 others 23

It will still get done just it might take a bit longer. I need a heater motor with all the speeds working. Also a nearside headlight wiper motor? The picture is 1st August and I don't think much has happened since except me handing over the correct door panels, air filter box and new wheel nuts.

Six-cylinder Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Today was Carlton Monday! @ianbmw came over to do the last couple of jobs on the red Carlton Estate to get it ready to take for MOT. The crankcase sensor was soon changed and antifreeze added. It is now declared ready to take for MOT. The plan was then to move onto the blue Carlon saloon but I pestered to look at the Royale. The Royal was the only car from the Vauxhall collection I had never even looked at properly. Ian once owned this car and was therefore happy to check it out and started by checking the engine turned over which it does on the starter. It was never going to start as there is no distributor cap or HT leads as bought. We couldn't open the boot because it was up against the hedge so Ian pulled it out with his Land Rover. I think that it is thanks to @Andyrew we found most of the parts inside the car and could not resist hanging a few parts on to make the car look more complete. @beko1987do you have any time to clean the Royal up? Thanks also to @Prince_of_darkness91who came along today and helped with the pushing. A very good afternoon. Prince_of_darkness91, Mrs6C, MrsJuular and 9 others 12

Six-cylinder Posted August 29, 2023 Author Posted August 29, 2023 Is anybody free this Friday to help with launching our boat into the Grand Union Canal? EDIT - Postponed because the engine won't start.
Six-cylinder Posted August 31, 2023 Author Posted August 31, 2023 Boat preparation is not going to plan. We decided to do a brief outboard engine test start yesterday, the engine turned but did not start. Investigation showed it had petrol but no spark. We can't see anything obvious so Mrs6C is going to clean up all the connections this morning as it was running prior to the covid lockdown. It is a Honda 9.9 HP of around 1989 vintage. richardmorris 1

LightBulbFun Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 on a more serious note, It sounds like its going to be a fun weekend! its a shame I cant be there, it would of been fun to see the boat in action in person (I am still recovering from the last FoD gathering, for some reason, its properly kicked my arse much more then normal so theres no way I can endure a another weekend currently sadly)
beko1987 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 We won't be there until later Saturday afternoon now (just in time for the fire 👌🔥) but sleeping at mums so back Sunday morning Six-cylinder 1
