I gave the Toledo a run out tonight to a local car show via Slowsilvers house to drop of my jump pack that is not taking a charge.

 37 trouble free miles including queueing traffic in warm weather. I opened the bonnet when I got to the field and everything looked good, but I wish I had a working temp gauge.

Yesterday evening @Talbot tried to resuscitate the patient, my shitefest bound Peugeot 306. Unfortunately because of a large leak, established with vacuum all I can do is drive it topless.

Talbot did not want to end the evening on 100% fail so 10.20pm decided to tackle the only other car on my drive with non working aircon, the Alfa 156. He had heard rumours that it used to work and did the vacuum test which it pasted so went on to regas it. It now blows cold air, so now he had a 50% success rate.

Now my aircon regas list is:

Citroen Xantia Activa

Chrysler Sebring

BMW 735iSE

Maserati BiTurbo

Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe

BMW 328i Msport E36

BMW 330Ci E46

Volvo V70

1985 Range Rover

I ordered new spark plug extensions for my Peugeot 504 from Germany they came in days with a packet of car shaped sweets!

Now my shiter friends I need help to identify the make, model, trim level, engine size and year!

There are 7 in the packet in different colours but look like the same car.

Due to the low take up for SAAB DAY 13^th August I thought I would move it to the 20^th August, unfortunately Adrian who I bought it from is busy 20^th.

My solution is to hold Saab Day both weekends!

That’s right FoD two consecutive weekends 13/14 AND 20/21 August.

 

This is my cunning plan:

I will buy a service kit in advance.

I will tax and insure the 95 ready for the 13^th.

I will have the Saab transported to the FoD the week before the 13^th August.

On the 13^th we can start the recommission process.

On the 13^th with can also go the Adrian’s house and collect any parts he has ready for us.

14^th Aug Test drive the Saab in the field.

14^th Aug polish it so it looks like new.

Assess what parts we need to make the car safe to use on the road.

Look out or buys spares needed.

Then for the 20^th August

Carry out any repairs necessary to make the car road useable.

Load extra people in the boot to take advantage of the rear facing seats.

Collect Fish and Chips with the Saab 95.

This is why I call them my favourite garage!

Somebody pointed out to me that there were a couple of small rust holes appearing on the underside of my Citroen DS after owning it for 13 years. I thought I had better book it in for a patch to be welded in. A poke about revealed it was far worse than a couple of patches needed. My favourite garage have repeatedly told me they do not do restorations.

There was a fair bit of negotiation needed with them saying in the end they needed the proper repair panels and if I could get them then they would do it. Making taking the job on dependent on panels was there undoing for getting out of the job, over a million DS were made and they have always been a popular car. In less than a week they were delivered from Germany.

I popped in to see them and was pleased to see before the panels arrived they had started to repair the sill under the passenger door. That’s when the abuse started, we needed to do it in case the car broke in half on our ramp etc!

I collected it all repaired today and I am oh so happy with what they have done and wish they would take on all my cars.

More fool them. You may as well just offer to employ them all on paye.

They are almost VW Beetle shaped

Today @Slowsilverplaced his healing hands on the bonnet of my E36 and miraculously the bonnet opened.

What's strange about that you say, well the bonnet has been stuck closed for over a week and when we inspected it after it was open found the outer cable had come out of its clamp point and therefore the inner cable had nothing to pull against.
