Are you missing a Peugeot badge for the boot lid or did you take it off for the repaint?

I still have a box of badges from when I had a summer job in a breakers yard, I can look and see if there is a Peugeot one in there if you want.

I know,  I keep posting Error 404 photos but its my thread! In spite of everything slowing me down returning it to the road I still like it very much!

Today I have been test driving 404 and completed 18.6 miles including stopping for petrol without any problems.

more reliable than RR then

I got my Range Rover back today. Another DPF forced regen, aircon works lovely with just a gas top up. No fault found for my suspension clonk, Dorrell's had said it needed to get worse before they could find it and it seems JLS are the same. Estimate £500 for a wiring loom to put out the intermittent airbag light. A least they found a good parking spot for it.

At least it's looking very shiny

I have done 172 miles in the Rolls Royce and only 20 miles in the Error so far.

I didn't have any badges for it but at the last FoD @Weird Car kindly gave me a 404 and Peugeot badge. Unfortunately the Peugeot badge is too short for the excising holes. The holes in the boot lid are spaced 127mm left to center and 135mm center to right, yes uneven.

Wrights coal tar soap and a nail brush the best way to scrub up oily hands.  You smell like a grandads bathroom after tho.

Interesting, my 504 needs a boot badge.

Unfortunately while my 504 is at home it is backed up to a wall with a load of stuff piled on it so measuring the hole spacing will be a major job.

Does it also need a chrome fuel cap? 👀

The 504 fuel cap is hidden by a flap and the 404 is behind the rear number plate.

There is a member on here who thinks the car I want back on the road most is my Carlton Estate!

I did give it a run around our field today but the ABS light came on.

Moi Aussi, wish I were closer to assist. Was the field wet? :)

Not you to!

The field was dry yesterday.

There is already talk that the other Carlton, a 1.8i GL manual Saloon should also be returned to the road by us when I wanted to sell it spares or repair.

Bloke I used to work with had two of these a Saloon and an estate, lovely cars.  I also remember my Dad test driving one at Williams Vauxhall in either Shrewsbury or Market Drayton when the time came to end his run of Granada estates when  the Mk3 came out, sadly his boss wouldn't go for it and he ended up with a Sierra.

Would be lovely to see these back on the road.

As a group effort we got the estate back on the road MOTed and everything. Unfortunately it popped a heater hose off and I must of airlocked it refilling it as it overheated and blew the head gasket again.

I’d forgotten about that little lovely thing.
on the subject of the odd 404 American spec filler cap. Are there any other European cars with them?

Sorry it's taken me so long to get round to uploading these, it's not been a great few weeks for us. But here are a few snaps of the fleet line up.

Mercedes W111 and I think a couple of others.

BMW E3.

OK I own up to cheating my dad had a W111 and I have always wanted one. Plus I own an E3!

Sunday Afternoon IT’S a GOOD NEWS update!

Duncan from TSSC came round to help me this morning with my misfiring Rolls Royce.

We opened up the Autovac (fuel pump worked by manifold vacuum) and it was clean. The gaskets looked quite old but no obvious sign of being breached. I had bought new cork gaskets so we fitted them.

Next we changed the ignition coil, it had been fitted with a modernish Bosch one, nothing visible but I had a new NGK coil I had bought as a spare for my Jaguar E-Type so we fitted that.

We then went on to clean and gap the spark plugs, not much to report except maybe a little black soot.

We set off on a 6 mile test drive and 3 miles in we got caught in queuing traffic and cleared that to open road. It was still running well so we extended the test drive to 15 miles and all is well.

To celebrate I had a root around in an old tool box to sort out a set of Whitworth spanners to leave in the car as it did not come with a tool kit.

We have just been out for another drive and done another 20 miles trouble free.

What news of the Manta?

I have a large amount of parts available if you need anything, send me a message and I'll see if I can help

The Manta has slowed as Bill the father at  my favourite garage is not well. It will still get done just it might take a bit longer.

I need a heater motor with all the speeds working. Also a nearside headlight wiper motor?

The picture is 1st August and I don't think much has happened since except me handing over the correct door panels, air filter box and new wheel nuts.

Today was Carlton Monday!

@ianbmw came over to do the last couple of jobs on the red Carlton Estate to get it ready to take for MOT. The crankcase sensor was soon changed  and antifreeze added. It is now declared ready to take for MOT.

The plan was then to move onto the blue Carlon saloon but I pestered to look at the Royale. The Royal was the only car from the Vauxhall collection I had never even looked at properly. Ian once owned this car and was therefore happy to check it out and started by checking the engine turned over which it does on the starter.  It was never going to start as there is no distributor cap or HT leads as bought. We couldn't open the boot because it was up against the hedge so Ian pulled it out with his Land Rover. I think that it is thanks to @Andyrew we found most of the parts inside the car and could not resist hanging a few parts on to make the car look more complete.

@beko1987do you have any time to clean the Royal up?

Thanks also to @Prince_of_darkness91who came along today and helped with the pushing.

A very good afternoon.
