Gawd, that brings back memories of a very ex ex. A very experimental ex. Let's just say that even from the fridge, Mars bars can soften quite quickly in the right* environment.

Funny, Mars have never exploited this in their marketing!

Or you could steal one, and swap the ID and call it theft and fraud.

There should be a simple way of reporting such vehicles to the DVLA so they are given a special marker, and the only way to get them registered is with video proof of a full restoration.

Did you get feedback. I used to put them on report a crime anonymously. But you don't get feedback obviously.

Yeah, I ended up dealing with the same guy by emailing him directly.

It was a few years back when there was a constant stream of classic mini ringing kits on ebay and adverts for late injection minis with early tax exempt registrations with some being advertised as "re-shells" despite the fact the car was obviously entirely a late 90's car

As so many Minis were being stolen, I just felt compelled to keep passing any details on and being a moderator on theminiforum.co.uk, I would receive links to pass on from other members as well

I remember one of the reported cars being advertised on ebay as an early tax exempt car that was infact a very late 90's MPI cooper sportspack.

AVCIS informed me that they went out to view the car and confiscated it. I believe it was found on a stolen vehicle database once they discovered the cars true identity. I often wonder if it found its was back to its rightful owner

My understanding is that if the insurance company paid out, it will belong to them. They will sell it via copart or similar as stolen recovered.  The previous owner may be allowed to buy it back, but they may have spent the money.

A bloke I worked with had a mk3 Spitfire stolen, and it was found, but the claim hadn't gone through, so he got it back, with smashed lights and slashed seats.

Yeah... Sure.

I mean, I suppose something can't be faulty if it simply isn't present.

I'd be more interested in the XR4I next to it

Probably not bad for £350 really. Put a couple of grand into it to make a couple of grand out of it though.

I'd be wary of that, looks to be an S1, probably stolen and stripped of any saleable parts, if that is the case then i'm surprised that the suspension, brakes and dash are still on. Of course it could have been in a minor front end collision and stripped rather than repaired, but then why try to sell it?

No need to “just bloody scrap it” but “just bloody get a replacement soft top roof” would probably suffice.

As is a sofa, which might be more likely in this case.

You could make it into a great gaming “chair” .

Presumably the idea is that you could use the roof and tailgate to turn a 2+2 into a FHC.

My skills with filler don't run to that.
