I was working today (My work is so kind as to give me my Christmas eve off nightshirt...as long as I dis Sunday as a dayshift) and while going across Aberdeen to collect parts I came across a 3dr Seat Leon...

$_86.JPG

I honestly never knew Seat did a 3 dr of the current/last gen Leons! (All I've known have been 5-dr)

I guess they are near enough hen's teeth! Considering how the only 3dr Golf's I've seen the past few years have been the R...and VW have killed that off and doing 5-dr only from now on...

WTF is a Honda Saber? This caused much head scratching with its Honda of America badges but RHD.

Turns out it's a rebadged Acura TL, based on the American Accord, made in the US for export to Japan, where it was sold at Honda Verno dealerships while the same thing badged as the Inspire was sold at Honda Clio dealerships. Japanese cars are bewildering.

Borgward, we have all heard or seen one like this.

However, I did not realise the name was another Chinese purchase and now they produce cars like this.

The Borgward name was revived by Carl Borgwards grandson and Involves a Chinese manufacturer (can't remember which one)

I found this Kia Opirus 3.5 litre V6, up for €4,500 and only 10 minutes from the family home in Spain.

Never seen or heard of one before. A face only its mother could love?

Not so unusual. Spaceship Civics built in Swindon were also exported to Japan.

Back in the Bluebird days I'm fairly sure they built the 3-door version in Washington that was never sold in the UK. Maybe the 16v Grand Prix we didn't get, too?

Also Toyota Japan has also always maintained separate dealer lines, or use to at least (I don't really follow anymore).

Madagascar has a car industry.

No, me either.

BBC News - From SUVs to AI: Investing in Madagascar

Plenty of ace beige cars in the background of that report. I'd roll in a Karenjy but I'm not sure it would pass the Construction and Use regs. Renault have invested in them - I think they use Regies oily bits. Their strap line is a bit peculiar - 'nous avons raison de croire en l'homme' = ' we are right to believe in man'.

I'm sure the bus lickers will be able to identify the migrant in the background.

The French version of wiki is far more compressive history even when you use a  translator. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Rodéo

I once found one amongst a vintage tractor collection whilst in Southern France.

My french isn't that good, but I remember the owner saying that it used Renault 5 running gear.

What appears to be the Spanish alternative to the Matra Rancho.

Just discovered this Beetle-based kit car, the Albar Jet. I quite like this, has a bit of Alfa Montreal flavour to it:

The Fiesta Fantasy is quite interesting. I guess with those detachable roof pieces you have the same problem as with the Citroen C3 Pluriel C pilars, where do you put them whilst out travelling? The Stillborn forerunner is interesting having a PNO license plate (used for Ford Press cars along with NHK & VHK).

Just found out about the Triumph Italia, built in small numbers hence why I didn't now about it. Plus I'm more familiar with BL-era Triumphs.

Those new Pumas are probably one of the better looking little SUV things. They are doing an ST version too. I wouldn’t have a car of that ilk anyway, but just saying.

Coming from a ‘proper’ Puma fan, the fact that they used the name on something so far removed from the brilliant original, is fucking madness.

The fiesta fantasy was I believe American, the rwd one is I think the one built on a mk2 escort floor pan as one of the possible replacements for rallying there was another with a rear mounted gearbox ala RS1700T escort, all shelved for various reasons the biggest being the arrival of the Audi Quattro.
