Blue Plaques - who would we choose?

Round blue plaques noting some important person's life was lived within a building, or noting a once-famous building (which may have vanished) appear all over the place, when you start looking. Individuals have to have been dead for 20 years, but that hasn't prevented a Monty Python one appearing as a pleasant two fingers up to the English established concensus.

I've noticed there are many actors, writers and other luvvies recognised, relatively few engineers and automotive greats. Who would we choose I wonder? There does seem an inbalance in the favour of luvvies, perhaps that ought to be rectified - if Kenneth Williams is noted then so should many more motoring people.

A tooSavvy plaque on that bridge.

And a special oval plaque in Dagenham?

This has made me think - maybe Dollywobbler should leave a calling card in every BX he owns...

Ten famous men, I'm chuffed James Hunt is one - I imagine it was a female who made sure that went up. The Jo Lucas one really ought to have a light above it. Somewhere there's a Ricardo one, too. Far more deserving. Agree with the call for a Palmer plaque, why not a Jowett one too? Perhaps even something to denote the Jowett factory where Morrison's big shop now stands? We seem to manage our history very poorly indeed in the UK.

Spen King who has already been mentioned along with the Wilkes Brothers, Gordon Bashford and David Bache. I'd like to see one for Frank Pick, Harry Ricardo and John Rackham as well somewhere. Sidney Guy might already have one in Wolverhampton but if not he should and Oliver North deserves one too. Oh, and one for Harry Webster.

Edit; Having had a look on that internet it appears some above already have blue plaques. Good.
