2014 Shite - Seat Ibiza - povvo spec

Justt thought I'd share my company car. It was delivered last Thursday with all of 15 miles on the clock

Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSi

It has the noisiest 3 cylinder engine ever, sounds more like a diesel! Had to check they hadn't forgotten to put oil in.

No cruise control, no climate control, no built in sat nav, even the mirrors adjust manually

It does have some 'toys', elec windows, cd player, but I'd say it is as close to a poverty spec car you can get nowadays.

Voila..

Misery for 2014  :?

One of the best selling small cars in Austria. Austria is the second best selling Seat-market in the world behind Spain.

Austria = VAG-country. I´m thinking of emigrating...

Pretty grim.

Might look better if you take the shitty wheel trims off IMO.

People think that Seats are the same as vw's . Im afraid not .

The spec is terrible on some of them. A friend of mines wife bought a new ibiza FR which I think is quite a high spec model.

Only a 2 speaker stereo!!!

The 1.2 is a 4 cyl motor I think, so if yours sounds like a rough 3 then there may well be something tragically wrong. Are all the cylinders firing?

Just realised that yours is posibly an R3 motor with a TSI badge stuck on it. I feel sorry for you.

I'm sure we'll all be wanking over it in 20 years time.

Don't mind new Ibizas but that looks mega grim. I guess you need to get a bit spendy to get a decent spec one.

Still, at least someone else is paying for it.

That is grim, on a similar note a guy I work with has just just got ticked out his nut to the tune of 9 grand for a 3 year old base model 1.2 TSi Golf, its almost identical to this Ibiza, black placca wheel trimmed grim VAG turd.

I can see the OP probably didn't get a say in the spec of this but I for the life of me can't work out how my workmate didn't spend another 500quid on a better spec car or get a slightly older one for same money, he says he's bought it to save money on fuel and cos his old car needed some work. I don't get that logic either, spending 9K on another car to save a couple of quid on fuel, I'd be interested to know how long it'd take before he'd actually made the 9k back in fuel savings, btw his old car was a Y reg Ka 1.3 so not any worse on fuel than his new car, and all it was needing was a new tyre and a rear wheel cylinder and he's a fully qualified mechanic so not like it was going to cost him thousands in repairs, I don't care if folk want a nice shiney new car but FFS why can't they just be honest instead of lying about saving money on running costs, spending thousands on a new car to save a couple of hundred on tax and fuel is totally pointless and the reason I decided against spending another 5K trading my petrol Clio in for a diesel car. /rant over

A work colleague has one with alloys. What struck me is that is looks more like a C segment car (family hatchback) than a B segment one (supermini).

In the same vein I have my eye on a Kia Picanto as it looks about the same size as a 1990s-2000s Ford Fiesta.

If it's noisy I'd suspect something's wrong with it. My Dad's just bought a new Leon* with the 1.2 TSi engine in it, and it's as quiet as a church mouse.

Maybe they've just omitted all the soundproofing and/or put on an el-cheapo exhaust though, as another povvo-spec measure?

* I know, I know. He just "won't be telled", as we say in Cumbria.

Meh, it's a company car.

I actually regret turning down a company car and taking the allowance instead - although I could have been cruising the streets in a 1.3 CDTI Astra (I kid you not, they put a 1.3 diesel in a car that heavy) it would still have been fully maintained, taxed, insured, a few tyres a year and stuff. Although I've been pocketing a bit of profit for the past 18 months (car costs me £160 a month on the never-never, i get just short of double that to run it) the first time it shits it's DPF, DMF or any other acronym it'll cost me massively.

That doesn't look a bad car. It's not like you're the bloke off the tellybox who sat down and cried when he got a Maestro (what would the modern equivalent be? An MG3 perhaps. I'd struggle to even take the piss out of a Kia or Hyundai)

On the plus side, the radio does magic. And imagine what it'll look like with a length of old rope off the back, towing some rusty ebay purchase back home.

Oh, and the needles start at the vertical position. Just like a sports car. WIN.

It looks ok but I don't like the colour though, i'm one of those people that think black should still be a special order at the factory and only used on taxis or government and diplomatic vehicles.

I didn't get a choice on the colour, but as for car / spec i could have gotten anything, but I just went for the cheapest on my pocket, so I could still buy other tat.

One of my colleagues has a Volvo S60, another a Volvo XC90, another an Audi Q7.

I'm proud of my shitty spec Seat. :)

What is your personal tax liability on that?

My wife offered me a "company" car, but I figured that claiming 45p a mile was more tax efficient.

No towbar option on the conguration, how gutting.

The only thing I really dislike about the above is the steering wheel, which looks deeply unpleasant to hold.

Genuinely; I'm weird about steering wheels. Non leather / bakelite / wood / old ford polyurethane / I don't like it.

It can't be povvo spec-it has a rev counter, you fooking executive!

I think if my work ever offered a company car I'd refuse and claim my 45 p/mile for a series 3 jaaaag:)
